Rose gold hair

I have very light (bleached) blonde hair, shoulder length, sort of a straight long bob. I've had this look for about 20 years and I'm bored. I'm in love with the rose gold trend and I'm tempted to treat myself to a change for my birthday. Just wondering if it would suit my age! I'm no 20 year old Instagram model ...😁 I'm turning 43 so I'm worried about a drastic change (though recently I saw a lady in her late 50s with a short pinkish bob and she looked stunning). Has anyone tried any semi permanent rose gold dye that worked well for them? I'm extremely pale/blue eyes. I don't want to turn into a giant marshmallow/embarrass my tweenie daughter.. 😂
Any recommendations would be great, please? Thanks 😊

I have a friend in her 40s who has grey/blonde hair and I love that quirkiness about her x

Ooh you should totally do it OP! (Because I wanted to myself but chickened out 😳)

If you look in Boots they have some spray in rose gold hair dyes that you can just wash out. I think they are by L'Oreal.

Also there are a lot of variations of rose gold and some of them aren't as 'in your face' if you get me. Check out Pinterest.

I have dark brown hair with blonde bits underneath
I have a rose gold wash put over it every couple of months at the hairdresser and it’s lovely but fades very very fast
I use a rose gold semi permanent dye twice a week as well when I wash my hair ( mix it with my conditioner and leave it on for 10 minutes) and it dyes the blonde bits but it the dark bits on top really

I’m 46 by the way and my 13 year old approves

Thank you everybody, I really want to do this as I'm at a period where I'm craving a big change and hairstyle looks like an easy place to start.
I will check out the sprays suggested and go from there. Will report back! Thank you all 😊😊

Rose gold hair? Not come across this trend, anyone got any pics of what that looks like? Sounds intriguing...!

Ski40 · 17/04/2018 17:52

@Destinysdaughter this is rose gold. I think it's a gorgeous colour! 💖

Oh yes, sounds fantastic! I saw rose gold dye in Superdrug last week. I think the brand was Colour Freedom, lots of metallic colours including silvers & bronzes.

And some slight variations. Not going for these as they look too high maintenance for me but just thought I'd share anyway 😊

Yeah I did it last year. You definately dont need to spend money, the one in Boots (Schwarzkopf Live I think? Can't remember) does the job very well. Its called Rose Gold but is more pink tbh. Lovely colour though, but not true to box colour really.

Bear in mind rose gold hair washes out SO fast. Maybe a professional job will last longer but with the box ones you have to do them very often. Not really a problem if ypu get them on offer, they dont take any time. You just whack them on and watch telly cor an hour.

ElspethFlashman · 17/04/2018 18:05

Oh btw I'm in my 40s too. I honestly dont care what people think of my hair anymore. With age comes indifference!

Ski40 · 17/04/2018 18:12

Thanks. Yes I had heard that, that it doesn't last.. Not an issue for me as I feel safer that way in case I mess up and hate it... 😁 I also have to do my roots often so I'm used to frequent faffing.
I'm the opposite, used to be so confident and experimented loads in my younger years but I've just kind of lost my mojo lately. I think this colour would make me feel fun again. 😊

It did make a difference. I remember feeling that nobody could possibly dismiss me as matronly with my rose hair. It made me feel younger.

I went to a family wedding and all my aunts were agog (and probably aghast) but all my much younger cousins thought I was cool as fuck. And I felt cool as fuck too!

I cant have it again as I started a new job so im glad I rocked it before I got sucked into this dress code!

BusySittingDown · 17/04/2018 18:39

Ooh, go for it OP! It will look gorgeous.

I’m pleased to read this! I was thinking of getting pink hair but thought people would think I would look too old (I’m 34).

I was admiring a girl in Starbucks with galaxy hair and DH was saying go for it, it would look good but I wasn’t so sure.

I think a pastel pink would be more me than full on purple galaxy.

I’m a bridesmaid soon so I’ll probably do it after that.

swapsicles · 17/04/2018 18:50

I went pink quite recently. I used Superdrug's colour freedom rose blonde lovely colour but turned my ends lovely pink where there was a fair bit of bleach (naturally mid/dark brown) but the roots more gingery, I've since popped on loreal preference deep rose blonde and it's sorted the roots out.
My problem is the condition of my hair as I've used a fair bit of bleach, otherwise I'd go for the live lightening +twist.
I do love it though and had a fair few compliments Grin btw I'm almost 40!

Ski40 · 17/04/2018 19:33

He he loving all the comments here. I'm so ready to go for it! I'm a bit worried about it going too pink as my hair has been bleached for so long but hey... I've just got to get it out of my system.
Do report back if anyone else does it! 💖
