Beach wedding - maxi and flats?

I have a beach wedding to go to this year, my first time!
I'm Size 14 and 50 and I'm thinking maxi dress and flats...are beach weddings super casual?
My dd who is 18 has no idea what to wear. She is 5 ft 2 and a curvy size 10.
Any advice or outfit ideas would be fab

Depends on the wedding and the actual venue. I had a European resort wedding and myself and most of my guests wore floaty knee length dresses and heels but I think the right maxi and flats combo would still work.

Or espadrille wedges if you feel more glamorous with a bit of height.
