Alternative to a cardigan in spring/summer? Cool blazer?

I am fed up with always wearing cardigans. I am a cold person so end up always wearing one but feel they look frumpy at times and the hem goes up at the back.

I really want a cool/casual blazer/ jacket to wear instead. I really like the women's suit jackets which are in shops at the moment but they are too formal for me.

Any suggestions?

Something to throw over a summer dress, skirt, shorts without it looking frumpy. I a mid thirties.

Place marking...

LoniceraJaponica · 15/04/2018 22:29

I'm place marking as well. My workplace is ridiculously cold, and I'm sure they are cost cutting by turning the heating down. I can't look smart at work right now because wearing several jumpers is not a stylish look. People were working in their coats last week FGS!

Shirt worn as a jacket?
Lots of examples on Pinterest

Alabasterangel6 · 15/04/2018 22:32

Same! A couple of years ago I had a very fine knit slightly shaped, 3/4 sleeve cardigan from Mantaray.

I wore it over vest tops and tees. It was just the thing. Nor frumpy but an extra layer and made good use of summer tops. I’d love to have another like it but I’ve searched without luck!

I have a nude /blush blazer that Is not tailored looks great with jeans, also denim jacket great over summer dress... Will try and get pics

mickeymacca · 15/04/2018 22:46

My one was from new look but the material was crepe much less formal..
For a denim jacket with a dress go for slightly cropped

LoniceraJaponica · 15/04/2018 22:55

"Shirt worn as a jacket?"

Nowhere near warm enough. It isn't a good look over a thick jumper IMO.
No to 3/4 length sleeves. If my wrists are cold I am cold.

New look one is nice but looking for something more casual. Wondering if need something shorter too

I have a few kimono/silk 'jackets' that I throw on over t-shirts or dresses..could that be an option? I also live in my denim jacket in the summer...

1981m · 16/04/2018 07:24

Yes exactly but in a more neutral colour.

www.boohoo.com/womens/coats-jackets/kimonos

Not sure how to make that a hyperlink but it give you an idea of what I mean...I don't own any of these, usually get mine from mango, Zara or H&M..

Fresta · 16/04/2018 07:30

A jersey blazer is the answer.

Starryskiesinthesky · 16/04/2018 07:34

I agree about jersey blazers but also like the short style like this shop.mango.com/in/women/jackets-jackets/trim-tweed-jacket_23045722.html?c=05&n=1&s=search

Duckies · 16/04/2018 07:35

A fitted denim.shirt made from good thick denim is as warm.as a cardigan and looks a bit edgier than a blazer with dresses and skirts.

UrbiEtOrbi · 16/04/2018 07:38

I've got the Whistles striped jersey blazer which Starry links to above. It's brilliant. It can look reasonably smart but it feels so comfortable because it's stretchy.

CallarMorvern · 16/04/2018 08:34

Following...I really want a grey jersey blazer, but I'm tall so nothing cropped and I'm skint. This is the one thing that I haven't managed to find in the charity shops and can't risk Ebay as I really need to try on first.
I've been stocking up on some really fab (2nd hand) fitted men's shirts, my favourite being a Ted Baker with birds on the cuffs for £4.99, just need a nice jacket to go with them.

Cheesymonster · 16/04/2018 08:43

I wear a denim jacket

peachypetite · 16/04/2018 08:45

Blazers are sold everywhere, take your pick.

cad186 · 16/04/2018 08:48

They have got 2 colours in this but only size 16 and 18 left.

CallarMorvern · 16/04/2018 09:10

Unfortunately Asda one isn't in my size and I don't live near one to have a look in store. Good find though.
