Fake tan but not fake tan..Help!!

I'll preface this by saying that I'm a Highland lass and my skin is whiter than snow. I have my son's birthday soon and have decided to wear a jumpsuit which shows off my legs.

They are so white! I can't stand the smell of fake tan and previous attempts at fake tan have left streaks or made me orange!

The smell of the Dove and Garner gradual tans make me feel a bit ill too so I'm on my peely-wally legs begging for help!

Can anyone recommend a gradual tanner or such like for a completely pale newbie?

Vita liberata body blur

there are some shower versions now can't vouch for any as sadly most fake tans seem to have an ingredient in them that makes me itch but read about a san tropez shower one today that you rub on in the shower, wait a minute and rinse off and its buildable every time you use it.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 15/04/2018 19:25

also there are spray on 'foundation' things for legs sally hanson do one which you can spray on, rub in and then wash off after.

I like the Fake Bake gradual one. It's £18 so quite pricey if you don't like the smell.

I too, am very white. This brings me up to a light beige.

My skin is like yours too and I love the Rimmel sun shimmer, the light one is dark enough. Just rub it in with a tanning mitt and you’re good to go. Takes 2 mins and no fake tan smell. Only problem is it’s not really waterproof so don’t get caught in the rain!

traceyturnblatt · 15/04/2018 20:23

Thanks all! Plenty to look at.

I do like the idea of one that I could spray on and wash off after-it's not legs out weather very often where I live!

Does a tanning mitt make a big difference for the application instead of using my hands?

I use a tanning mitt. I actually think applying with hands is more effective but then you get orange palms and fingers which looks awful, hence why I always use the mitt.

The Sally Hansen one is not bad. But get the lightest shade. It takes the edge off of the white. The darker shades looked ridiculous.

timshortfforthalia · 15/04/2018 20:31

If you're thinking of using a wash off, then I would highly recommend This Works Leg Oil. Super easy to apply, gives a lovely non-orange color, evens out skin tone and makes legs look super moisturised.

It's pricey but worth it.

CMOTDibbler · 15/04/2018 20:34

I am very pale, and don't get on with fake tan. The Sally Hansen airbrush legs stuff is brilliant

whatthelump · 15/04/2018 20:37

Rimmel do one - think it's called summer shimmer. It's rub on wash off and i always get comments on my tan when I'm wearing it.

(I'm glow in the dark Scottish too) xz

Bondi sands, bondi sands, Bondi sands. Best tan ever. I'm paler than Casper the not so friendly ghost. This is the only tan I've ever used that comes up golden brown without any streaks. I cannot prose it highly enough.

Nonotmenori · 15/04/2018 20:40

*praise

crazycatgal · 15/04/2018 20:40

@Nonotmenori Which one do you use?

Coffeeorgin · 15/04/2018 20:43

Bondi sands daily lotion is THE BEST for when you don’t want a proper full on fake tan! (It’s a blue bottle)
The smell is great, it’s really easy to control how brown you want to be over a few days and it wears off really evenly.

A tan mitt is an absolute must with all fake tans for a nice finish. However you can get away with latex gloves if you have any. Never bare hands!

Nonotmenori · 15/04/2018 20:45

Crazy I use the light medium foam. I also use the gradual tanning milk and the liquid good. All that been amazing. I've recently bought the new one hour express but have yet to use it. Online reviews are good though

Nonotmenori · 15/04/2018 20:47

I also have the spray on and wash off can and that is pretty good too. I got that from the bondi sands site as not seen it in stores

letiziana · 15/04/2018 20:47

sally hansen airbrush legs spray is fab, i use the the lightest colour, looks really natural

SilverHairedCat · 15/04/2018 20:50

Any of the Clarins range. I'm so pale I'm almost blue, but I get a nice glow from their products. I'm paranoid about being orange but this has never been anything except a short holiday in the sunshine shade.

PlumsGalore · 15/04/2018 20:53

I use the Bondi Sands fake fan, it's smells of coconut, sleep in it then wash it off so I only stink when I'm sleeping!

traceyturnblatt · 15/04/2018 23:08

Thank you all so much for your help- sorry I didn't reply earlier, had a very clingy baby attached to me!

I'll definitely look up the ones you've suggested and purchase a tanning mitt too.
Who knows, maybe this is the year my legs won't reflect the sun and blind people as they pass my garden!Grin
