Recommendations for trainers for a city break

Hi all, looking from advice from you S&B experts. I’m going on a city break in late May, so expecting fairly nice weather and hoping to wear shorts/t-shirts and trainers. I really want some stylish trainers. I already have running shoes but they are lurid and not ‘cool’, I also have a pair of black Converse but for the amount of walking I like to do on a city break I don’t find them quite supportive enough/find they make my feet ache after a while. I quite like look of the Adidas Gazelle or Vans ‘Old skool’ but not sure how comfy they are for walking? I can’t tell from trying on in a shop, my Converse felt very comfy at first but after walking more than 5km they start to rub.

Please help! :)

I can only wear Converse with trainer socks, otherwise they rub and cause blisters pretty quickly.
Converse own brand invisible trainer socks are comfortable, and don't disappear under your foot.
I will be taking them on a summer city break, as they will go with shorts but will be fine with summer dresses too.

www.google.co.uk/search?q=skechers+street&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari&dlnr=1&sei=-47TWt23AojEgAb246fwCw#dlnr=1&idx=Freemans&pie=plar-ti
Skechers have a range called street which are a bit less 'skechers'

Thank you so much everyone for so many fab recommendations. Now to decide which of them to go for! I was leaning towards the Adidas Gazelles but the Nike Internationalist and New Balance 373 both look nice as well as comfy and come in the pink/grey colours I like. Think it’s too hard to make this decision online, will have to go into town and try some of these on.

Another vote for Nike Internationalist - I have 4 pairs in different colour ways as they're pretty much all I wear. They're very comfy and reasonably supportive.
