Sensitive Eyes

My eyes have suddenly become ultra sensitive, and react violently to the mascara I wore happily for the past twenty years (Lancôme). I am working my way through alternatives that have been recommended to me for sensitive eyes but so far no joy. I’ve tried Clinique, Green People and Blinc. Blinc is ok most of the time in terms of not making my eyes water, BUT it’s rubbish as a mascara - I end up with it on my skin and it doesn’t seem to do much for my lashes at all.

Any other suggestions?

La Roche Posay has recently brought out some mascaras. I have problems with my eyes and they were fine. I also like By Terry from Space NK, but that is more expensive.

I haven't bought anything from here but it was recommended to me when I started having trouble with sensitive eyes.

LRP mascaras are great for sensitive eyes AND they are actually worth wearing (unlike other crappy "sensitive" mascaras)

Thanks for these suggestions. Which La Roche Posay mascara is best?

The Butterflies eyecare range seems to get good reviews.

I used the extension one.

Are they sensitive from the moment you put it on or does the sensitivity start later in the day? Just asking because I went through a phase of having very dry eyes which would get more sensitive and itchy and sore as the day went on, so could it be that?

MadMaryBoddington · 15/04/2018 14:28

They start itching and watering about a minute after I apply the mascara, so I’m pretty sure it’s the chemicals in the mascara causing a reaction.

Neal's Yard Remedies - it smells lovely too (not something I'd usually say about mascara!)

I use the No7 Sensitive one during hay fever season. Not as smudgy as the La Roche Posay.

Thanks everyone. Several to try here. I didn’t know Neal’s Yard did mascaras - I love their stuff.

Reading with interest as have the same problem and have stopped wearing mascara. The other issue I have is that I have oily skin and deeply set, hooded eyes and the smudging I get even from most waterproof ones. The Givenchy waterproof on Indy list sounds promising.
