Please can someone help! Every time I use foundation it always looks really dry and horrible. I'm fed up and don't know what to do.

Do you moisturise well and allow it time to sink in first? And do you use a primer?

To be honest, you don't even look like you need foundation! Your skin tone is beautifully even.

NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 11:05

I do moisturise but tbh I'm clueless with things like this! I use the Superdrug own brand face cream but hasn't used any this morning. It always seems to be like this. I use the Nivea for men after star balm as primer

I’d go without it tbh. Maybe a good concealer for any small blemishes. I’d say you look pretty good freshfaced. Most people’s foundation is unfortunately noticeable.

RatherBeRiding · 13/04/2018 11:09

I have to say you look absolutely fine in the pics! However, is the foundation too heavy? Maybe try letting the moisturiser & primer sit for a while, then apply a light layer of foundation and build up gradually if you want more coverage?

NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 11:12

Thanks for the lovely comments! My natural face is red blotchy which is why I always use it. Can anyone recommend a lighter coverage foundation? The problem I always have is the foundation coming off after a few hours which makes me look awful. I have combination skin so it's dry in areas they gets really oily too

Bambinho · 13/04/2018 11:13

I would try a different moisturiser. I have dehydrated skin, what's yours like? I find some moisturisers change how foundation applies and looks. I'm currently using Lidl's Gold Day and Night creams and they're working well.

Bambinho · 13/04/2018 11:15

Are you sure your skin isn't dehydrated? I have oily T zone too. I use Bare Minerals original foundation, would recommend as you can build coverage and easily reapply if it wears off.

Dvg · 13/04/2018 11:18

I didn't even know you had foundation on XD Its hard to tell without seeing it in real life and comparing to you without foundation but make sure to moisturiser and prime and try to use a dewy hydrating foundation , maybe also try a face makeup spritzer spray after doing the makeup and when you feel your getting a bit dry.

NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 11:20

Yes I think my skin is really dehydrated. What moisturiser is best to use to get it rehydrated? When I put night cream on, by the morning by skin is so oily it's crazy

GOSH foundation drops is very light and buildable. With combination skin you probably need a dusting of powder once you've got the right amount of coverage.

RatherBeRiding · 13/04/2018 11:25

Also - are you drinking enough? Hydration from the inside needs to happen as well as hydration from the outside.

Sarkyharky · 13/04/2018 11:25

You are very pretty and your skin looks good but you do look a bit dehydrated. Drink a lot more water.

Ofthread · 13/04/2018 11:29

That foundation is far too yellow-toned for you, going on your bit of shoulder showing in the background. I can't see any dryness. Some people would be powdering that down! Can you point out where the dryness is?

Thisnameistaken · 13/04/2018 11:30

I have always had really dry skin, this facial oil has changed everything. I don't even use a normal moisturiser anymore..

Buy a derma roller from amazon and use a couple of times a week along with a serum You should see some improvement within a few weeks.

Twilight456 · 13/04/2018 11:33

How long have you used the nivea balm as a primer because I've heard of it causing dryness if used every day. Maybe try a setting spray after to stop it coming off, the maybelline one is nice. I like rimmel foundations the wake me up one is good and seems to stay on.

NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 15:43

@Ofthread the dryness is around my nose mainly but the rest of my face the foundation can sometimes looks a bit flaky which I don't think you can see clearly in the photo.

OP posts:
8oOoOoOo8 · 13/04/2018 15:54

Don't forget to exfoliate - otherwise the dry bits or flakes soak up the excess.

NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 15:56

@Bambinho thank you for that suggestion I shall pick some of this cream up at my next visit to Lidl!

@Thisnameistaken I have now ordered this oil. Can you tell me how you use it please?

@lorribaby I have just been looking at the rollers on amazon and there are different mm so can you please tell me which is best and what's your routine for using it?

I have gone for the Rimmel wake me up foundation for now and have also got some setting spray and banana powder. Will see how I get on with these for the time being.

OP posts:
NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 15:58

@Twilight456 I had one been using the Nivea for about a week.

@8oOoOoOo8 what do you exfoliate with? I use the Superdrug hot cloth cleanser but previous to this used an exfoliating glove and it didn't make much difference either. I also use the Superdrug acid pads.

OP posts:
HeffalumpsnWoozles · 13/04/2018 15:59

I’d ditch the Nivea for men primer, everyone went nuts for it & every other thread on Mrs Gloss was people saying how great/cheap it is. Slowly people were then reporting how drying it was. I’ve not found a primer yet that makes any difference so can’t advise what to try instead though.

DairyisClosed · 13/04/2018 16:01

Do you exfoliate? Fonda took cam get stuck in dead skin.

lorribaby · 13/04/2018 16:08

I got the 1.0 mm skin radiance one from Amazon. I throughly cleanse then use it. I then wipe with a nip + fab extreme pad or use Radha Beauty Hyaluronic Acid Serum from amazon. Watch the YouTube videos on how to use the derma roller. I have noticed such a difference. I also make sure I cleanse every night and wipe with the nip + fab pads.

NinkyNonk1 · 13/04/2018 16:14

@lorribaby thank you have now ordered 😄

Mary1935 · 13/04/2018 16:14

Yes I was going to suggest exfoliating gently to see if that helps.
