Alternative to Jeans, that's not too dressy?

I live in my skinny Jeans, at home AND at work. It's almost like they're my default. I don't have a job that warrants dressing up in a suit and all that malarkey. This thing is, I'm getting a bit bored of myself- and I've been searching for alternatives that will still work with the tops i usually wear, as I don't want to replace my entire wardrobe.
I like cigarette pants, but I can't see the wood for trees. If I search them in H&M or Top Shop or my other usual haunts then so many come up and then I start writing them all off because they're polyester etc.

Can anyone recommend a good slimline jeans replacement that's a bit smart bit not overly so? I guess my style is supposed to be smart casual, and I like a slim silhouette. Any suggestions welcomed!

Gap bi stretch trousers, h&m chinos and for non slimline days, gap girlfriend jeans and culottes

I've ordered the Gap bi stretch and the side fastening ones in 2 sizes too big. Fancy the jigsaw ones but am spending a lot so will wait to see what I send back first. The M&S ones are interesting but not keen on the pocket detail. Thanks for all suggestions- I will try warehouse, oasis etc if and when my current purchases are no good. Not sure about Boden- I have a mental block with them now as I stopped buying from the 15 years ago, but food for thought!

Hope you find something you like. I agree, the pockets would rule the M&S ones out for me.

I know exactly what you mean. I wear jeans to work every day but everybody dresses in their own style and I could wear a dress if I wanted to but I'd have to go there slowly.

I have liked some of jigsaw trousers with a stripe down the side. Was tempted. I'll see if I can see what I was tempted by , but didn't buy. They could look versatile, black runners or 'smart shoes'

I LIKE THESE as a slow edge away from jeans

NigellasGuest · 15/04/2018 05:56

Thank you @CelticSelkie - I REALLY like those and am sorely tempted! They will be great for the summer. I don't often like patterns down the side, but the ricrac is pretty and not too much!

I live in leggings but had a look and found these. Also not too pricey either www.next.co.uk/g7694s5#806243

Thank you lurking, I have ordered in navy. They were exactly what I was after.

Another vote for M&S for trousers I have these in black and navy, feel very comfy to wear and wash well. I love the little side split at the bottom

I also have Gap and Boden slacks. Most important thing for me is they are comfortable and wash well with minimum ironing effort.

I bought some nice trousers from Zara recently.

@TeddyIsaHe do you have a link to those exact asos jersey trousers?
