I’ve removed all wires from my bras....

I usually wear Triumph Amourette style in various colours. I’m a 36D or 38C depending on what the shop has in stock. Recently, the wire support is driving me bonkers. So, I’ve removed them all (last night, watching Netflix after a few 🍷🍷🍷).

This morning I feel comfier but.... can anyone recommend a bra that give good support without wires? Thanks.

I have worn my new bra for a couple of days and I think it's a winner. I went up a back size as nearly all the reviews suggested and I am glad I did as I still have to use the first hooks!
It is really comfy though and best of all when I look in the mirror all the lumps and bumps are my own.
It's nice that it looks a bit sporty; I'm not a lady undies person. Smile

blodynmawr · 13/04/2018 12:23

Hugo glad it fits! I have ordered it in a larger back size as you suggest.

SukiTheDog · 13/04/2018 12:28

@Smiled....saw those yesterday but didn’t try on as basically (ten bras + tried on) I ran out of time. I did feel them though and they had a latex-ish feel. A bit like theatre makeup prosthetics or gloves. Might go back and have a try 😊. Sports bra could be an option. I’m very jealous of ladies who can wear these lovely bralette type lacy things. Sadly, those days (for me) are gone.

I think the non wired tended to give me a pointy Playtex Cross your Heart Bra “look” circa 1972 😄. Not good on my norks

Got 2 more M and S ones arriving today. Will just keep trying.

This is comfortable, I’ve worn them since I had shoulder problems. Sexy it ain’t and expensive but fabric rather than elastic so never wears out. Also straps not adjustable but if they fit theyre great.

AllBuggiedOut · 13/04/2018 14:50

I used to wear those amourette OP, but also found them uncomfortable. After literally hours with a very patient fitter in Selfridges (can't recommend Selfridges highly enough for bra fitting; it's the only place that's ever sorted me out) I got this from Bodas. It's amazing and I now have it in five colours! Yes there is wire, but it's so comfortable you don't know it's there. I no longer want to change out of it at the earliest opportunity! Decent support for me (size 32 D). Worth a try if you don't find any without wire that work.

Branleuse · 13/04/2018 14:55

Try a Molke www.molke.co.uk/product-category/bras/

You would be surprised at how supportive they are. don't give monoboob, and are supremely comfortable. There is no going back

Use your BoB measurement for best fit.

SukiTheDog · 13/04/2018 19:27

That’s the thing @Buggied....I CANNOT WAIT to get undressed so, time for a change, I think.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/04/2018 21:01

I've just ordered a Molke. Have seen them recommend elsewhere. I can't believe they're that supportive but am going to try one as they look bloody comfy! Smile

AllBuggiedOut · 13/04/2018 23:07

That's the clincher, @Suki! I change into 'lounge wear' as soon as I can of an evening and want to be comfy. Used to change into a very unflattering non-wired bra (hate being bra-less) but no longer need to! Comfortable bra is a life-changer!

50ShadesOfEarlGrey · 14/04/2018 10:26

Three weeks ago I was exactly the same place as you OP. My bras were so uncomfortable, I had four boobs, flab sticking out from above and below the band on my back, the underwire cut in and I had semi permanent marks under my boobs and couldn’t wait to take my bra off when I got in. I had almost got to the point of never wearing a bra again, but I realised 34F’s with nearly 60 years of gravity and 3 years of breast feeding would have meant I’d be tucking them in my waistband! 😂
I had returned bras to M&S, HoF, Bravissimo, John Lewis, in all different sizes. So I went to an expensive lingerie shop in my local town. And they introduced me to The French brand Empreinte
www.google.co.uk/search?q=empreinte+lingerie&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB596GB596&hl=en-GB&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjnp8eLtLnaAhWLC8AKHfX_ADEQ_AUIEigC&biw=1024&bih=653#imgrc=cPvxslwPlIpIzM:
They will be underwired, but OMG they are so beautiful, and even better, they are amazingly comfortable. I honestly could sleep in them. Breasts look amazing, not pointed, not flattened, no excess bits anywhere. I will be looking out for them in every sale now. (Warning - they are very expensive)
Ps I am still a 34F in this brand.

SukiTheDog · 14/04/2018 14:12

@50Shades...they look really pretty. Have never heard of them. Will check them out.

Thing is, my 36D still pinches but, the bra fitter at the lingerie shop said “going up to a 38 will give you swivel strap”. Going to a DD is too big a cup. So, I’ve still no idea really 😐

OP posts:
thenightsky · 14/04/2018 19:06

50shades They look good, but what size are you? I'm a DD and they seem to jump from D straight to E. I know D is too small, but I've tried E previously and they've been way too big.

Suki what in God's name is 'swivel strap'? Shock

SukiTheDog · 14/04/2018 19:47

Apparently, the band going under the boob, swivels and feels unstable so, you’re always having to wriggle it round, back into place. It’s a “thing”. Who knew?

OP posts:
ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 14/04/2018 21:02

Swivel Strap sounds obscene. Grin

I don't understand how the band could swivel unless it took your boobs with it? I think the bra fitter is making this up as she goes along.

I always go for a slightly looser band. I can't stand the look of a bra cutting into me at the back, especially in thin summer tops.
You can buy those bra band extender thingys (not sure of technical name) but they just clip to the back. That might help if you're happy with the cup?

50ShadesOfEarlGrey · 16/04/2018 11:59

sukithedog yes they are really pretty, the prettiest I’ve ever worn, they don’t look like armour plating which they often do by the time they get to my size.
thenightsky I’m a 34F. I tried on twenty five bras in that shop! She started with other makes and then said ‘ right, be prepared to use your credit card, I’m going to show you the best bras for your shape, but they are pricey’ out came the Empreinte drawer and I tried on 5 in different colours and styles, they all looked so pretty and were so supremely comfortable, that for the first time ever I had a choice of bras to buy.
I think they come up a bit big TBH. They are French, so I don’t know if that means they have a different sizing system?

catinapoolofsunshine · 16/04/2018 12:04

thenight European sizing doesn't include the double letters, at least in the shops here - no double A or D. I live in Germany and was confused when we first moved too.

SukiTheDog · 16/04/2018 13:03

@50Shades. I can’t afford them, sadly. We’ve just gone self-employed, DH and I. Nearly £200 on two new bras, is right out. But yes, they do look beautiful.

The search continues....

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 16/04/2018 13:07

I find D.K.N.Y. bras to be amazingly comfortable. You can sometimes find them in T K MAXX pretty cheaply.

SukiTheDog · 16/04/2018 13:38

I can go up to £45 but, that’s my limit at the moment. My Amourette are £38

OP posts:
SukiTheDog · 24/04/2018 18:49

Am updating.... I have bought bras. From all places, Sainsburys. They’re marvellous and so, so comfortable with no wires or padding or seams. Can’t do the link but they’re in a 2 Pack at £16 so excellent value, too. My usual Triumph were £38 each so, am very pleased.
