I’ve removed all wires from my bras....

I usually wear Triumph Amourette style in various colours. I’m a 36D or 38C depending on what the shop has in stock. Recently, the wire support is driving me bonkers. So, I’ve removed them all (last night, watching Netflix after a few 🍷🍷🍷).

This morning I feel comfier but.... can anyone recommend a bra that give good support without wires? Thanks.

Your cup size is too small if you get a four boob look

MynameisJune · 09/04/2018 20:52

These are the ones I have. So comfy, full cup. No four boobs.

Where are those from suki?
I am looking for a bra that has a seamless cup, but not those massively padded t-shirt bras that seem to be in all the shops.

hugoagogo · 09/04/2018 21:04

Ah I have found them. Not available in my size obviously, Hmmthe quest continues.

blodynmawr · 09/04/2018 21:23

Hugo I quite like this style from M&S. They change the design every few months. I would never get measured at M&S in a million years but once you know your proper size and there is a 20% Sparks code around, their bras are great value, there is usually a choice of colours and they last the same (before the back fasteners wear out) as Fantasie and other expensive brands.

Fantasie used to do a great seamless bra but for some unfathomable reason they discontinued it and replaced with this seamed version. It gets great reviews though so I may be tempted to try next time there is a Figleaves code around.... HTH Smile

hugoagogo · 09/04/2018 21:27

Thanks blody I've never tried a minimiser, I worry they wouldn't be comfortable enough to wear all day.

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2018 21:33

hugo have you checked Fantasie Rebecca?

I have a bra measuring question, (sorry to hijack op)

When you lean forward to measure the cup size, do you not get a false measurement if your boobs are like empty sacks? Asking for a friend BlushGrin

RoseAndRose · 09/04/2018 21:41

"When you lean forward to measure the cup size, do you not get a false measurement if your boobs are like empty sacks? Asking for a friend"

Perhaps I am your friend?!?

Yes, you might need to size down in the cup if your boobs are very deflated. And also try a variety of cup shapes, as some definitely work better than others.

OlennasWimple · 09/04/2018 21:44

Slightly off topic, but have you seen these post surgery bras from M&S DailyMailisShite?

DaanSaaf · 09/04/2018 21:45

Thanks rose I'll tell my friend Grin

hugoagogo · 09/04/2018 21:46

I don't think I am built for Victoria secret ShockGrin
the fantasie Rebecca, might work- I can't tell how padded it is...

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2018 21:47

I would not call it padded. It's a so-called spacer bra, so has a very thin light moulding only.

Uniqlo do some amazing wireless bras (none in my size though Sad)

Hmmm...my problem is (I think) that I may be expecting too much of a bra. I’m 56. I don’t want anything that looks too “push up/separate/shape/maximise/minimise. I don’t want Playtex Cross Your Heart, either.

I’ve not managed to get measured as yet so, can’t really order anything, til I know. And then, there’s the problem that styles in bras can mean a slight tweak in size. It’s no bloody wonder I’m walking around feeling like I’m in a whalebone bodice, all at vast expense.

Most places do non-wired bras, from supermarkets to specialist shops. Admittedly a really small section, but they are there nonetheless - you just have to hunt. I never wear wires.
I have to say it makes a real difference to get the right size though. When MN directed me to the braguru, it was fantastic.

What clothes size are you op? I'm am 18 and a 36 back. I reckon your sizing is properly out. Go get measured and not at m&s!

officerhinrika · 10/04/2018 00:10

Curvissa have a good selection of unwired online. Some quite pretty ones even in larger sizes. In terms of comfort from a larger size perspective, depth of underband is important, width of straps and sides that are cut high enough. I like a bra with 'side support' as it suits my shape and sort of hoicks everything up. A bra fitter once suggested it and they were spot on.
Mis Mary of Sweden are a 'substantial' brand that I end up coming back to lots, wellmade and a decent price. I buy cheaper cotton rich bras for the summer / dossing about at home. There's a huge variation between brands even when marked the same size so trying on is crucial.
