I’ve removed all wires from my bras....

I usually wear Triumph Amourette style in various colours. I’m a 36D or 38C depending on what the shop has in stock. Recently, the wire support is driving me bonkers. So, I’ve removed them all (last night, watching Netflix after a few 🍷🍷🍷).

This morning I feel comfier but.... can anyone recommend a bra that give good support without wires? Thanks.

Also watching. I like a non-wired bra but as I'm small of boob I also like a bit of padding / up-lift. Does anyone know of padded / wonderbra type bras without wires?

Failing that, I might take the wires out of one of my "2 sizes bigger" underwired bras and see how I get on>

pourmeanotherglass · 10/04/2018 07:23

I've never got on with wireless bras. I get non-underwired ones from Debenhams, as they go up to a higher cup size than some other high street places.

blodynmawr · 10/04/2018 08:04

Hugo I find the M&S minimiser bras are fine - do 12hr+ shifts at work and no discomfort.
Anyone who wants to ditch the wires permanently, and wants to avoid the spaniel's ears look, probably has to embrace Triumph Doreen. Dawn French is a big fan and writes very fondly about Doreen in her Autobiography....
Finally, last year, I was looking for a 100% cotton bra for summer and someone on here recommended Miss Mary of Sweden, who also does non wired styles. HTH Smile

Ooo following this thread! I have worn the same triumph minimiser bra for years (I have more than one!) and it's started really bugging me. I'm a 36FF so need support but the wires are giving me permanent pains in my side boob/ too of rib areasConfused

KatharinaRosalie · 10/04/2018 09:54

Honestly, all people saying wires are agony, bras are horrible and specially the ones walking around with 4 boobs - do either Boob or Bust calculator or follow the Better Bra Blog fitting advice. In 90% of cases, the issues are due to wrong size.

Harvestmoonsobright · 10/04/2018 09:57

There's a reason Doreen soft cup bras by Triumph have selling well for years, they work.

I prefer M&S full cup embroidered which is sold with 4 hook height in my size.

Lotsofsausage · 10/04/2018 20:54

Uniqlo beauty soft. Life changing. no wire and no clasp at the back but fits nice and snug.
M&S isabella for something prettier - amazingly supportive for a lace bra let!

Everley · 10/04/2018 21:14

Sloggi Zero Feel bralettes & bra tops (slightly longer and more coverage at the back) are fab.

SukiTheDog · 10/04/2018 23:22

But (and I don’t mean to be crude here...) I DO NOT want to be shapeless and have my tits around my waistline. All the “shapely” bras seem to be wired. I tried some M&S bralettes recently and they just made me look flat chested and most of my boob was under my armpit 😐. Which is why I carried on with wires.

I’m getting measured on Thursday. Will also check out the Boob or Bust and Better Bra Blog.

M&S version of Triumph Doreen. It gets good reviews.
This lace non wired M&S one was the one I ended up getting last summer when I wanted a cotton bra. I may have to order the bright pink version this year....
M&S are slated a lot on these boards but for basics such as tights, knickers, camis and bras (once you know your correct size), they cannot be faulted IME.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 09:01

Right! I'm off to bravissimo today to check out their wireless range and get measured. Will report back! Smile

hugoagogo · 11/04/2018 09:21

The trouble with the Doreen type non wired bras is they use small panels and multiple seams, I have to wear jersey tops for work and those seams show through and look unsightly.
I have bought this from m&s but haven't tried it under my work tops yet. I am a bit concerned it might make my boobs look a bit droopy Blush

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 14:35

Ended up in John Lewis not bravissimo!

I got re-measured and had gone up a cup size.

Def get re-measured there or somewhere like bravissimo not m&S op they can't measure for toffee!

I bought an underwire in the end. It's fantasie - the lady said it's probably just because my old bra was stretched and moving around.

Also tried on a John Lewis non-wired number which was really nice but they didn't have my size.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 14:36

The Freya one with the plunge line was not ample enough!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 14:37

Check these out too - I've ordered the Skye sports in a cup extra...

borntobequiet · 11/04/2018 14:39

Triumph do the Amourette in a non wired style as well, someone posted the link upthread. It's a nice style and size consistent with the wired version.

blodynmawr · 11/04/2018 17:54

Hugo that M&S one definitely ticks the seam free box. Please report back on how you get on with it!
Glad you got fixed up Smiled. The Skye bra looks like quite firm support although it says it is only for light exercise....

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 11/04/2018 19:10

Did you know you can bend the wires in your bras to fit more comfortably? I find it helps if bend mine out a bit.

This is a bit late if you've ripped all your wires out and tossed them in the bin though. Grin

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 21:40

I can't tell you how much more comfortable the bigger cup was! Hadn't been fitted for about 2 years. I had just been reordering the same triumph bra online because it was comfy. And had put on weight so boobs have gone up! They are bloody massive now I MUST loose some weight! 🙄

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 21:43

The Royce bras on the bravissimo link I posted earlier look really supportive. I might try one out. Now I'm on a bra-shopping roll Grin

Harvestmoonsobright · 11/04/2018 22:02

Smiled Great link thanks. Off to
Bravissimo tomorrow post haste!

SukiTheDog · 12/04/2018 19:20

So. Have been measured and am a 36D. However, all the D’s I tried on squished my boobs and all the DD’s had excess cup. So, I tried on 6 or 7 different makes and none were right so, I came away with nothing.

The thing that didn’t make sense was that depending on the make/style, there was NO uniformity. So, a Triumph 36D is nothing like a Lejaby 36D. One of them was better than the others but at £85 it wasn’t THAT good a fit. The non-wired on me, looked old fashioned and gave me pointy boobs 😐

Well done for getting measured OP!

I suppose if you're not used to wearing a bra then anything much beyond a bralett is going to bug the hell out of you.

It would be like always wearing trainers then getting a pair of DM's.

Have you considered sports bras?

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/04/2018 08:28

Think I tried one of these non-wired JL ones on too and it gave lots of uplift. I just needed the next cup size:
