Polyester items you own and love

Ok, so I get the polyester hate on here. It makes you sweaty, often it doesn't feel nice, and 80% of the crap, ruffly blousons available in high street shops are made from it.

BUT. But...

I do have some lovely, vintage or vintage-repro dresses in polyester and the cuts are beautiful, the colours remain bright and the fabrics wash REALLY well. My favourite is a circa 1980s ww2 style navy blue tea dress with a cinched waist.

We also don't talk about how some blended fabrics (polycotton etc) combine the best of both worlds - the warmth of natural fibers and the hard-wearing qualities of manmade.

I'm interested to know about the polyester items you own and love (although fair play if MNers don't want to share!)

I've got a couple of shirts from primark. They fit really well and look smart, and colours haven't faded. I was expecting them to fall apart in the wash but they're still going strong a couple of years later.

Vintage blouses esp Jaeger. I think the quality of vintage polyester can be better than modern. A lot of stuff in the shops now look like it'd fall apart pretty quickly.

I have a pair of poly/cotton skinny jeans that I bought in the US (from Target, where all my best trousers come from). On the outside they're a nice dark cotton denim, but on the inside they're like black synthetic tights. They fit really well and are lightweight so dry quickly. They have no contact with my armpits so don't smell bad (or maybe the cotton content takes care of that, Idk) and I love them.

I also have a navy poly blazer from Target, which also fits well and (I guess because I layer it over other natural-fibre tops) doesn't have the smell issue. It sounds horrible but looks great and is a wardrobe staple.

Other than that I've got rid of every other poly garment as after an hour of wear the armpits smell like the chain gang in Cool Hand Luke. (I don't smell especially bad in anything else but poly, in case it sounds like I am the problem. Smile )
