I'm rubbish at shopping and pretty much live in jeans. Im particularly useless at putting whole outfits together (clothes / shoes / accessories).

I'm going to a party soon and would like a dress to wear. It's a family party so nothing too formal. I don't really do frilly stuff.

I'm in my mid 40's. Dark hair and dark eyes. Size 10 on top and 12 on the bottom (with a wide ish bum). Long legs - 5'11".

Sorry to be a pain but I need to know what shoes and jewellery to wear with any offerings !

No real budget but I'm not really one to wear designer gear.

Thanks for any help. I've added a pic for body type.

I really need some help please.

You have a stunning figure and amazing legs - I think you'd look good in pretty much anything.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 07/04/2018 22:39

I think that this is gorgeous. Lovely choice of colours too. Would look lovely with ballet flats if you don't want to be too dressy m.esprit.co.uk/chiffon-dress-with-a-tie-around-belt-028EO1E018_630?referrer=default

Would you consider a jumpsuit? I live a jumpsuit. Feels less formal than a dress, and a bit edgy if you like!

Noboozeforme · 07/04/2018 22:48

Thank you Screaming. Due to height I'm never sure if I look dainty enough for dresses !

Florence. I do like the shape of the dress but the chiffon puts me off. It's the type of thing I'd get a hole in before I left the house.. pretty colours too.

Any more suggestions ?

I'd consider anything really Tori. As long as someone showed me what shoes to wear with one. I really am clueless !

Honestly?? My first thoughts were 'bloody hell, she can wear anything!'

Not very helpful I know, but it's true.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 07/04/2018 23:03

Wow, amazing legs! I’d definitely be showing those off if I were you.

Noboozeforme · 07/04/2018 23:14

Tori, ooo I like that play suit (really is that what it's called !). Ok stupid question but can you wear tights with them ? And if so what colour ? Party is in April so might be cold ! Are there any alternatives to the wedged sandals ? Not overly keen on them for this time of year.

I love the long version but my boobs aren't great and that one looks pretty revealing!

Hardknock and woah, thank you (if not helpful 😉).

You could wear black tights and shoe boots? Or nude tights and a sexy heel?

Bit of colour?

There are two links there!

I'm liking those boots !

I'm 5'9" and have yet to find a play suit/jumpsuit that doesn't Cheese-wire me, much as I love them.

I'm a similar shape and size to you and I find I look best in tailored-ish dresses. I'll have a scout round for some now.

SilentBob · 08/04/2018 09:09

six pounds!!

MinisWin · 08/04/2018 09:25

Is it daytime or evening?

MinisWin · 08/04/2018 09:36

I’m your height and size and personally I love a jumpsuit. ASOS is an absolute goldmine if your search their tall range. The sizing is usually on the larger side so I would go for a 10. On first glance these jump out:

(Haven’t checked individual sizes so apologies if any out of stock)

Shoes wise any simple pointed court shoe or a heeled sandal (prefer a wider strap and heel as stiletto can look a bit too spindly and not quite ‘cool’ enough in a sandal I think) will do!

Swimminguphill · 08/04/2018 09:39

This is gorgeous unless you’re the type to spill ketchup (I am), with the shoe boots above, or this with some plain blue courts.

Noboozeforme · 08/04/2018 12:56

Oh thank you. I will check the links out now.

I not especially long bodied. But yes, I worry about the straps to crutch length Grin

It's an evening do. I don't think it will be a party dress affair .. more a fitted/tailored type thing.

I have MS so my balance isn't always great so prefer block ish heels over stilettos.
