Are the Hush harems worth the money?

I am generally a jeans person and definitely wouldn’t go out in a tracksuit but sometimes I do like to be more casual but still smartish if that makes sense. I’ve bought harems before but I’m quite tall and they always shrink but the hush ones seem a bit smarter and they do a longer length. I’m thinking harems, skin tshirt, denim jacket, white plimsoles kind of look but £55, it’s a lot of money if they’re not as good as I’m imagining

I’m interested in this too.. mainly I’d like to check they don’t stretch after wearing for 10 mins..

bigkidsdidit · 07/04/2018 14:35

I have them, they have washed very well and haven't stretched. But, I have to iron mine or they look terrible. I don't wear them often for that reason!

TheFormidableMrsC · 07/04/2018 14:40

I prefer Hush Amie's myself, slimmer in the leg. I have 3 pairs in different colours and while they are an outlay, I have worn and worn them and they have lasted extremely well. I am not keen on the Harems but that is probably down to my body shape more than anything else. Hush is expensive, but their quality is good in my experience.

gubble · 07/04/2018 18:40

Next do very similar , I find them very unflattering though .

emma6776 · 07/04/2018 18:48

I have the grey hush harems and they stretch terribly at the knees, but I also have the black ones which are lovely and don’t stretch at all. I loved my Amies before I gained weight but now they’re too skinny for my big thighs

ilovecherries · 07/04/2018 18:55

I have both the harems and the Amies, and find they've both washed multiple time and are still going strong. I've tried cheaper versions (Next, M&S etc), and found the didn't look great after a couple of washes.

Yvest · 07/04/2018 19:27

Thanks everyone that’s so useful. I have also tried cheaper ones and they always shrink in the leg and are unwearable. What is Hish sizing like? True to size?

Short answer: yes. I asked the same question here a few months ago (wanted something super comfy to travel in for a long haul flight with toddler DS on my lap) and I ended up buying two pairs of them. They are so incredibly comfortable, and they look great. I love them!

ilovecherries · 07/04/2018 19:52

I'd go down one size, OP, although they are relatively forgiving size-wise, as mine are def too big now but they pull in and sit on my hips just fine - it just means the legs are looser.

Swimminguphill · 07/04/2018 19:58

Probably not. But I’m wearing mine right now and sometimes when I’m at work or wearing jeans I fantasise about putting them on. I haven’t tried cheaper ones but I bet you could find just as good elsewhere. I do love buying a small at Hush too! (5’10, size 12 - definitely not small, the ultimate vanity sizing).

SoyYo · 07/04/2018 20:00

Yes as far as harems go worth the £. Deffo size down, I'm a 12 and my black harems are 3 years old and still going strong despite being worn most weeks, they are S but thinking about it next time I'll try XS

theaveragewife · 07/04/2018 20:06

I wouldn't wear them out of the house (if I looked as polished as the model I would) and wouldn't pay full price for them - in Feb each year they have a sample sale in London where you can get them for around £10. I know that's of no use now but for the future the Hush staples are brilliant in the sale.

HappyFeet1212 · 07/04/2018 20:06

I have black ones but they have faded horribly. So much so, I have just thrown them out. Had them for a year, worn occasionally, so it doesn't feel like value for money.

Would be interested in alternatives too.

ScarlettDarling · 07/04/2018 20:07

Reading with interest. I've always assumed even the long length would be too short for me, (I'm 5'11".) The model on the website is 5'7" so I've got a good 4" extra leg than her! But Swimminguphill above says she's 5'10" so maybe worth a try?

theaveragewife · 07/04/2018 20:08

I'm almost 5"11 and the long length are great for me!

Nearlyadoctor · 07/04/2018 20:09

I have both the black and charcoal grey, bought 2 years ago, washed loads and still like new. Never thought it was a style I'd wear but I love them for lounging at home also fab with flip flops / Superga type trainers for long haul flights - so comfy.

GinaLinetti99 · 07/04/2018 20:14

I have a black pair which I bought in 2015. They've seen me through 2 pregnancies (I even wore them in Labour one time) and they're insanely comfortable. I've dyed them a couple of times as I found the colour faded. They've just developed a hole in one leg, so it's time to bid them farewell. I'm sad about it.

peanutbutter310 · 07/04/2018 20:15

I like them for lounging around the garden in summer. Washed well and haven't stretched with wear for me. Definitely size down.

SoyYo · 07/04/2018 20:27

Agree with you nearly I wore mine for a flight when they were new, but mostly confined to homeworking days and Pilates class. But it wouldn't embarrass me to pop to the local supermarket or corner shop wearing them

Swimminguphill · 07/04/2018 20:27

I definitely am 5’10”!!

Swimminguphill · 07/04/2018 20:30

They aren’t Aladdin pants on me, they do pull a bit from the cuff rather than bagging above it but I actually like them like that. They are also INSANELY comfortable. More so than Trackie bums, pyjamas, no clothes even...

isambardo · 07/04/2018 20:47

I have a black pair, they’ve lasted really well and never faded. I am 5’8 and they are marginally too short for my liking but they are absolutely my most comfy trousers.

I’m contemplating getting some short ones for the summer too.

Yvest · 07/04/2018 20:55

Perfect. I’ll go for a longer length one in small.

Mine sag at the knees.

ProjectGainsborough · 07/04/2018 22:58

Tremendously comfortable but I find them hideously unflattering on me (pear shaped size 10). Just great big flapping balloon thighs. Not to be worn out of the house —by me at least...
