Wedding guest outfit - is this skirt alright?

And if so, what would look nice with it? Was thinking maybe a nice wrap top with sleeves (if I can find such a thing), maybe a structured cardi and either ballet flats or something with a small heel as I’ll most likely be wrangling a baby and a high energy 3yo all day.

I’m a tall size 14-16 apple shape and I’ll be breastfeeding, so really would prefer a skirt and top rather than a dress for boob access!

Any thoughts? TIA

I’ve ordered the skirt and top in both a 14 and a 16 for trying on session.

Thanks all. I’ll hold off on shoes and bag till I know I’m keeping the skirt and top.

Gorgeous top. Bet it all looks amazing.

Babybearsporij · 08/04/2018 17:02

Oohh I love it. Go for it. I like the style of top that gettingthere posted, although I might go for a different colour than black.

Bluntness100 · 08/04/2018 17:07

I think it's gorgeous, lovely colour. However it is a shape that can be hard to pull off, especially if an apple shape, as they just make you look bigger all over. It's a shape that tends to work better on a pear in my experience. See what you think though.

DanceDisaster · 12/04/2018 09:33

@bluntness

You are so right! I’ve got the skirt and it really wasn’t flattering at all. It did sort of balloon out and managed to make me look massive! I was hoping the volume in the skirt would balance out my chunky torso and skinny legs. Not so my friends, not so. It wasn’t a good look Sad.

You probably need something that skims the body and flat over your tummy, but emphasis the slimness of your legs. Those skirts always look great on models, but often end up making you look like a baby elephant in a tutu. I know I've been there 😳

This might not be your colour option, but something like this midi wrap skirt (they have tons of them) would work better I think.

That’s nice, thanks @bluntness.

I’m going to go shopping in person. If I don’t find anything though, I’ll have another look online for something less voluminous!
