Help me find decent jeans please

I have recently lost some weight Grin but am, and will always be, curvy. I have not been a size small since I was actually small but I measured myself just now to try to find my size to order some Gap jeans (girlfriend I was thinking) and it shows me as small! Is this vanity sizing in the extreme? Or are you expected to add inches. My waist is 29", my hips 38" and inseam is 30" and I have ample thighs which I am self conscious about (they are 21.5" apiece, bless them) but I am on the downward slope to 50 so it is time to woman up and accept me as I am. I wear skinny jeans with long tops but would love to be able to wear jumpers and not constantly be covering up my bum.

So, to summarise, I am looking for comfortable, non-skinny jeans. Like boyfriend jeans but not adding lbs onto me. I will be extremely grateful for any advice and recommendations Style Guru's!

Oh and I live very remotely so will not have opportunity to try on before buying. I will have to buy online and so need to try to narrow down my options before buying.

I always buy my jeans from Next. I hate trying on in shops and I have a 34" leg so that really limits my options. They have lots to choose from in all different styles. I always order loads and return the ones I don't like.

These are lovely

New Look Rita Mom jeans are, in my pear-shaped opinion, flattering. I bought them for the same reason of wanting to wear short jumpers with them. They look a little bit baggier than on the model in real life.

MikeWyzowski · 06/04/2018 21:32

Great, thanks. No recommendations for gap or Levis then? I'll try Next and New Look but i doht like the stars on the Hush ones.

Sorry, not Rita. Tori! I have no idea where I got Rita from.

You will be a size small in a lot of shops with those dimensions. I'm 30" waist, 37" hips and wear a gap size 10. I find waist measurements are usually bigger than they claim so I buy by hip size. You've got a good waist hip ratio so will probably get a bit of gaping at the waist or slightly tight at the hips.

Mybabystolemysanity · 07/04/2018 07:56

My Mum has lots from M and S which sound like you describe. High waist, more room through the bum and tapered to the ankle? She's 65 and the most stylish person I know. I live in hope that one day I'll look as good as she does.

I recommend Gap! I like the sculpt jeans. I’ve tried the girlfriend ones but they were too short and they only do one length. I seem to remember they were flattering other than that so if you’re shorter than me you might be fine! Gap jeans vary in size massively in my experience so get a few pairs to try. And sign up for the emails, they have constant codes varying from 25-40% off.

SorrelForbes · 07/04/2018 08:47

Gap Best Girlfriend jeans are really flattering. I'm a size 8/10 and have some in a dark rinse in a size 24. Size down!

cindersrella · 07/04/2018 09:02

I love m&s jeans. It's the only jeans I can buy without having to try on. Everywhere else I find are 'funny' sizes for my shape. I am 5ft 6in and 13 stone my weight is pretty even too.

gubble · 07/04/2018 09:17

I'm a similar size and wear Topshop Jamie . They come in petite and short leg and loads of colours . I'm a curvy 10/12with big legs and thighs but they look ok especially the black ones !

SallyOMalley · 07/04/2018 09:21

I like gap real straight jeans - very flattering.

prettywhiteguitar · 07/04/2018 09:46

I love Levi's but each style has a different fitting I find so you really have to try them on. I have three pairs and have done for ages, they have lasted 6 years one pair, they probably need replacing now

MikeWyzowski · 07/04/2018 12:58

Okay on balance from reading all these replies I have ordered a pair of gap girlfriend in a size 10 (GrinI am a fan of vanity sizing!) In regular length. I find Gap easy to deal with which is also why I went with them. At some stage I will find a Levi's shop and try some on but for now I'll see how these go. Thanks a million!

GAP’s authentic straight jeans are great. Straight leg, little stretch. They feel like proper denim.

BanyanTree · 07/04/2018 13:38

Hi OP. I am virtually identical measurements to you in trousers. I am curvy too. I have lots of booty. I usually buy Levis Demi Curve but am sick of the price tag. I live in jeans so have tried everything. I have a couple of pair from GAP and they fit well but I find they don't last and rip in places.

After asking for help on here I just bought white jeans (there are other colours too) from Boden called Trafalgar Straight. They are a great fit. I bought a size 12. They are a decent thickness too. Not quite as thick as Levis but seen similar material. I got a code off this site for 20% off and free D&Returns too.

raisinsraisins · 07/04/2018 14:51

I've got some girlfriend jeans size 30, and might order some more in the darker colour. Does anyone know what size 30 is, as the gap website has clothes sizes, e.g. 12, 14...

Glug44 · 07/04/2018 16:59

I wear a 32 and am a 12 waist but 14 bum, so it gapes horribly. Guess is if you’re a medium 12 then the 30 would be fine. If small 12 then maybe 28?

MikeWyzowski · 17/04/2018 18:20

My Gap girlfriend jeans arrived! The size ten is plenty big on me but they are really short!

I have just properly read the advice up thread: I’ve tried the girlfriend ones but they were too short. That'll teach me to read replies properly! I like them otherwise so will probably keep them as swinging around my ankles is fine for summer with flip flops.

H and m girlfriend jeans are really long!! Maybe better for you ?
