Help - jeans length dilemma (photos)

StillAqueo · 05/04/2018 14:47

I really struggle with what's the right length for skinny jeans. To cuff? Not to cuff? What kind of cuff? With boots, trainers, heels...whatever.

What looks right on other people just doesn't seem to on me.

Being tall I have the fear of too short jeans/trousers anyway which probably doesn't help.

I'm slim but curvy (I have a waist, hips and - -chunky-- muscular calves) so I was delighted to see Gap skinny curvy jeans recommended on MN. As a result my bedroom now looks like a Gap stock room I ordered so many pairs in different colours, sizes and lengths.

Trouble is the tall are very long, about 3 inches longer than the regular, so I definitely need to cuff them. I'd really like a pair that are just the right length without cuffing as I'm not sure a cuff looks right on me. Somehow it makes my legs look stubby and cut off especially if there's a high contrast like you get with dark jeans (and I prefer dark). Maybe it's because my calves are chunky compared to my ankles.

Here are some photos with different footwear, the heels are the highest I wear these days as my 50 year old knees can't handle any higher. What do you think? (I'm not going to say what I think yet).

P. S. Sorry this is so long! Blush

Well OP you look amazing! Off to google those jeans and sew up my mouth

StillAqueo · 05/04/2018 16:03

@peonylover22 here's a link to the lighter blue pair but there are other colours and sizes if you search for 'skinny curvy jeans' on the website - good luck!

Thank you. I’ve been searching and searching the website but can’t seem to find a pair that are tall + curvy + blue (not indigo) + size 12. A lot of them don’t seem to be available in tall lengths after all. And a 5ft 10”, I definitely need the longer length. What a shame!!

StillAqueo · 05/04/2018 16:24

@peonylover22 Yes, at the moment most of the Tall sizes are sold out, I was lucky to pick up some 8T's but most of them are out of stock now. They will hopefully come back in - Gap usually seem to stick with jeans styles for a few seasons at least...fingers crossed.

I'm 5'10" too and decided to try the Regular sizes as the model is wearing and 8R and is 5'10" - she must have shorter legs than me!

@peonylover22 Are there any in 10T? You might find they are OK, I'm not a true 8 more like a 10.

You have a fab body, am v jealous! But I think, possibly, (am no style queen!) that you need different shoes- I think the “look” at the moment is more very flat trainer type things, or sandals a bit less delicate than your flipflops, and that balances out the cuff a bit more? But I could be wrong!

StillAqueo · 05/04/2018 16:34

Thanks Tanaqui - I have some grey Adidas trainers and Converse - will give those a try

Redcrayons · 05/04/2018 16:37

can I ask how tall you are? I'm 5'11 so also have the fear about too short trousers looking daft.

Redcrayons · 05/04/2018 16:41

Sorry, just saw you posted you height. Might give these a go.

Btw the blue ones suit you better.

peonylover22 · 05/04/2018 16:45

Nope no 10T either (but I think I am definitely a 12 in any event) Ah well...

They all look fabulous on you OP, you have an amazing figure. EnvyGrin

thenorthernluce · 05/04/2018 18:15

I don’t know why, but you look amazing in the blue jeans but “only” nice in the black jeans - sort of backhanded compliment, I know, but you genuinely are a knockout in the blue. I’m very envious of your figure Smile

StillAqueo · 05/04/2018 18:29

Thanks for the lovely comments. I've put on a few pounds (probably the menopause) so have felt a bit 'meh' lately but you've cheered me up.

I think maybe it's the shading with the blue jeans that makes them look better. The dark indigo ones look better in RL than they do in the photos but you've helped confirm they are too short.

I think if I have a figure like yours when I hit 50, I’ll ditch the jeans and just get about in my underwear.

trigger2 · 05/04/2018 20:09

You have an amazing figure OP !

cannaethink · 05/04/2018 20:21

I’ve got those jeans too, I love them! I’m 5’ 8 and wear the regular leg. I think all your pictures look great apart from the long leg with the flip flop. There needs to be ankle there.

Frazzled2207 · 05/04/2018 20:22

Amazing figure.
Like the last pic of the first set most but also the first pic of the second set.

Oneapenny · 05/04/2018 20:24

You look really great. Prefer the blue jeans by far.

LemonysSnicket · 05/04/2018 20:35

You’re not chunky or large on any part of you- you have a stunning figure and it looks fine both cuffed and uncuffed.

Take them to a tailor to be hemmed if you prefer. You look gorgeous ( im 22 a size 8 and v jealous) .

LemonysSnicket · 05/04/2018 20:37

I think the first pic is best though

Myview2 · 06/04/2018 13:43

I think the first set of jeans look great and really want to know where you got your off the shoulder top from from though? Is that Gap too?

StillAqueo · 06/04/2018 15:59

@Myview2 it's Baukjen, from a couple of years ago though. I Iove it and have it in burgundy too. They have some off the shoulder tops at the moment but not as fitted.

I find the trouble with jeans like this is they look great when you first buy them, but then quickly lose their shape and go baggy at the knees/bum.
