Painting over gel nails - with gel

Hi there. I did my nails last night but used a colour I don't like.

Can I just paint over the shiny top coat with another gel polish colour and cure it as usual?

Hmm I wouldn’t think so as you would need to have the roughed base and primer for it to stick.
You can however paint over it with normal polish, I find that this works fine and lasts longer than normal polish as it doesn’t peel off the nail/chip like normal

I do my own gel. I would buff the shine off the top coat, apply a thin layer of base coat and then go in with the new colour. You might end up with thick gel build up though. You might be better just doing the 10 min soak off in front of the telly and starting again.

I’m a beauty therapist.
Best thing to do if you really don’t want to start from scratch is buff shine off with rough file, cleanse and repaint in new colour until you are happy with coverage and then apply top coat as normal. It will give you a thick finish but should give you the colour change you want.
