I'm 40 and after a nice highlighter. I used to use them all the time when I was younger but now I'm older think I need something more subtle - any recommendations?

Or should I steer clear - do they just highlight imperfections?

Try Becca Moonstone, it's a lovely subtle everyday highlight. They do minis for £15 on cult beauty (does anyone ever finish full size highlighters?!).

I am a bit wary of highlighter these days (I'm 38) as I think it really shows up my fine lines, however I do still like a touch for a night out. I've got Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kit and it's very nice - very subtle and not too shiny.

What about a glowy primer thingy? Charlotte Tilbury has brought out a Flawless Filter thingy (liquid) that can be used all over, or a a highlighter or mixed in with base. It is not bling but I really like the effect it gives to the skin. I tend to wear all over as a light base but lots of stuff online shiwing how it can be used as a highlighter a la J Lo
