Are these shoes suitable for a wedding?

If so, what style dress would go with them? I rarely need to dress up but for once I'd like to make an effort and (hopefully) look a bit stylish.
Knee length or longer is a must. Size 16. Colouring soft summer (apparently). I don't like patterns or prints.

The shoes are lovely. What about a dress like this one from Coast?

I quite fancied it for a wedding I'm going to, but it's out of stock in my size. It's still in stock in a 16 though.

Ohyesiam · 03/04/2018 13:20

What shape size 16 are you?

youngnomore · 03/04/2018 13:21

I love them. Not sure about your style. But this dress is cute.

Shoes look nice, and should be comfortable to stand around in all day

Love both the dresses posted already

RoryHatesCoffee · 03/04/2018 13:25

Love the shoes. Also no sinking into grass if any of the wedding is outside!

poppym12 · 03/04/2018 13:50

Love the coast dress but would that go with blue shoes?

I'm fat hourglass shape with big thighs.

I don't think that dress is very me young. I like the cut but really don't like patterns on me.

Those shoes are lovely and may be exactly what my DD1 needs to go with a bridesmaids dress she is wearing soon. Where are they from?

youngnomore · 03/04/2018 13:58

Sorry I just saw you don’t like patterns or prints Blush

House of Fraser have got some nice dresses in the Jolie Moi range, I've just bought a plain one in the sale.

poppym12 · 03/04/2018 14:02

The picture is of shoes from Office bluesky. I bought mine (more or less identical) from Next a year ago (maybe 2) but they're still unworn in the box.

I have had a look at Office and they have something almost identical in silver which is exactly what she needs. Thank you!!! (Sorry no help on finding a dress though)

Love the shoes, how about this dress in John Lewis:

Or this one:

I think I'd look even fatter in the first one thistle and the second is patterned.
I apologise if I seem difficult to please. I've gained a lot of weight over the last few years due to illness and the prescribed medication. Life was so much easier when I was a size 12, everything seemed to fit and look OK then.

Glad you found some bluesky.

Classic style, midi-length, pastel colors and a touch of lilac which those shoes would pick out nicely.

PugwallsSummer · 03/04/2018 15:46

Pattern again - sorry! 😳

PugwallsSummer · 03/04/2018 16:16

A navy dress could work with the colour of those shoes. This is quite "nigella", thought it might work as you have an hourglass shape. Perhaps with a silver bag and something of a similar colour to the shoes, in your hair?

I think OP you might need to find the dress first and then the shoes. Most weddingy dresses are floral at the moment.

I did see some lovely royal blue dresses but they wouldn’t match the shoes pictured.

Can I ask if there’s a particular reason you don’t like patterns? They can very extremely effective at disguising lumps and bumps.

You don’t have to get florals if that’s not your thing, there are some great geometric patterns out at the moment.

I’d suggest you have a look at Phase Eight and Hobbs.

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll find something great.

poppym12 · 04/04/2018 07:29

I'm trying to find something in a greyed out navy (if that's a colour). I love the first coast one linked. Wish it was blue!

When I was a size 16 I wore a coral lace overlay knee length shift dress from Wallis to a wedding & got compliments, Wallis are quite good for dresses.
