Hen do help please! Plus size disco glamour and debauchery...

The dress code for this hen do requires an extreme look. The bride wants disco, glamour, glitter, sequins... In fact, if you google 'Grace Jones Birthday Party', that's the official mood board Shock

I'd rather not go as Divine on this occasion...

I've ordered a couple of sequin dresses from ASOS Curve, but they're usually too cheap looking and unstructured, clinging in all the wrong places.

So maybe I need to wear a normal black dress with amazing accessories somehow? An incredible headpiece? Or a good wig??

Please help! This is so far out of my comfort zone, I don't know where to look!

I'd go black dress and AMAZING shoes. Go for a silver theme including some dress jewellery (primark or the such). Then go to town on makeup with maybe some silver hair spray! You'll look fab Grin

Maybe a headband similar to this?

I know Laiste Shock

As a 40+ year old short, fat woman, I'm finding it a very challenging brief!

Black jumpsuit or dress (tank dress would be fine), amazing shoes, serious eye makeup, and maybe something glitzy and disco-ish jewellery wise in electric blue, red, silver or yellow (colours she wore lots)?

ShitAtFancyDress · 02/04/2018 19:26

I think you're right ToriRay I tried on Glitter Lips by BLVD today and they looked pretty good, but OMG I couldn't stand the feeling of it on my lips for longer than 30 minutes!

How about embracing the madness and going with fancy dress?

These trainers will do right?

Or has anyone seen any amazing headpieces?

ShitAtFancyDress · 02/04/2018 19:29

Grace Jones wears a lot of masks eh?

Where can I get an amazing mask??

Training are perfect! I like the idea of a mask! Like a masquerade ball style one? That could work...

ToriRay · 02/04/2018 19:31

I couldn't go for glitter in my lipstick either. Maybe a flat colour?

Laiste · 02/04/2018 19:35

Lots of ideas here.

You can have quite a bit of fun with this theme actually! Grin

amymel2016 · 02/04/2018 19:36

I think a black dress and amazing accessories, how about something from Facelace like this? face-lace.com/product/dazzlestars/

veryveryquietly · 02/04/2018 19:36

Don't do glitter in the lipstick. This is an occasion for a super glossy statement red.

Looks like ebay has a fair amount of lace masks. Also good because you can take it off as the night goes on and it'll be easy to stash in a pocket.

RebelRogue · 02/04/2018 19:39

Sequined top, black shorts, tights and high boots? Then OTT accessories and maybe a wig?

ToriRay · 02/04/2018 19:40

That face lace website is fab!

ComedyBoobs · 02/04/2018 19:43

Sounds bloody brilliant.....im no help what so ever Grin

yumscrumfatbum · 02/04/2018 19:44

I had a similar theme for a party last year. I found a glittery bolero type jacket and wore it over a plain black dress with glittery accessories and shoes. A bit like this , search cruise wear rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302685296995

ReallyExhaustedLlama · 02/04/2018 19:50

What about a jump suit. All black or something like this with a matching drapey headscarf like Grace Jones wears.
