What can we do to get ready for summer?

I am looking out the window and it is chucking it down, grey and miserable. Yet, according to my iPad next weekend is going to be hot!!! I have basically been hibernating under layers for the past 6 months. I am not hot weather ready. I am starting to panic. I am a stone over weight. My feet are not summer ready. Hair removal has been neglected since October. My nails are not the latest spring colour.

We need a plan to get ourselves hot weather ready. Who is with me? We need tips.

I am with you! I am pretty much the same except I am way more than 1 stone overweight. Although I am slowly changing that!
In preparation last week i did start shaving my legs again to try and reduce the post shave irritation. I want to start painting my nails regularly again but I am about to start a new job so that will be subject to work rules!

Sitranced · 02/04/2018 14:55

I'm working on my feet first. A couple of footners are needed before I start wearing sandals so I need to do it now.

I have started looking at trousers to wear for work instead of skirts and opaques.

notaneasyjourney · 02/04/2018 15:00

I need to start getting ready too

I'm going to:

Do a footner

Buy some of those chiropody sponges and get scrubbing

Shave legs

Buy and use sanctuary salt scrub

Read up on and start using gradual tanner (used St Tropez last year and it was a tad orange).

I've lost 3.5 stone and want to shift another 10lbs too.

SukiTheDog · 02/04/2018 20:25

God, I’m dreading the removing of layers. I was going to start doing something after Xmas. Now, it’s April. Fuck. And, we’ve friends over this weekend that I’ve not seen in a while. Good grief....the shame.

BanyanTree · 03/04/2018 09:31

notaneasy, massive congrats on your weight loss. That is amazing.

I looked at my winter feet yesterday and decided that I cannot get my heels out yet as they are really dry and flaky. I would do a Footer but last week I had to wear a pair of court flats and they ripped my heels to shreds. I need to wait till the blisters pass. I've left my Benefit foot file out in my bathroom to loosen up the dry skin before my Footner session.

In anticipation of the weekend I am going to do hair removal all over and then get out the Bondi Sands for the legs. I may start to put a few drops of Clarins Liquid Bronze in my moisturiser. I will dust off my nail varnish and see what I have for the sunnier weather. I plan on wearing a skirt, brighter top and something a bit more open on my feet at the weekend. I'll probably freeze, but I am so sick of this weather. It is beginning to get to me.

What is a footner? Whatever it is, suspect my horrible winter feet need it...

Littlelambpeep · 03/04/2018 10:45

Amazing weight loss ! I'm in. Very dry skin. Toe nails unpainted. Need to scrub, tan and hair remove!! Thinking of replacing coffee (usually milk and sugar) with green tea

FashionFiend · 03/04/2018 13:02

Baynan Tree, do you use clarins bronze drops in your body moisturiser or just for your face?

BanyanTree · 03/04/2018 13:56

Just my face. I don't usually use body lotion although I need it. I am considering buying the Clarins body one too as I really rate the face one.

I started shaving my legs and dry body brushing last week in preparation for summer!
I also painted my toe nails for the first time in forever.
I have 2 footner sachets in - is that enough or do you really need to use them for the full week?
Also - body brushing. Does anyone know if long strokes or round circular ones are best?!!

Whatififall · 03/04/2018 14:07

As well as the above - I’ve also just eaten a whole Easter egg. I don’t want to make it too easy for myself 😂

FashionFiend · 03/04/2018 14:25

Definitely going to try the clarins liquid bronze then. Bought footner last year and didn't use it, must use it this weekend.

KimKsButt · 03/04/2018 16:21

I’m in! Have bought couple of bright tops to get me in the mood for brighter weather. Need to lose at least 4 stone but will be happy to lose 2 and see where I am after that.

Started having my nails gelished but dont like the condition of them now so need to find a nice neutral gel polish for home manicure.

What is a chiropody sponge? My feet are like trolls hoofs!! Has anyone ised a non branded footner thats any good?

Need to defuzz everywhere, ashamed to say even my bits are overgrown Blush

Thegirlisnotright · 03/04/2018 21:41

I’m suffering serious winter neglect 😂 That first warm day always sneaks up on you so want to feel a little prepared this year!
Am getting a chiropody sponge- can’t afford to go to a chiropodist. Need to start epilating again too

Fullfatlatte · 03/04/2018 22:13

Hi, so after reading this thread I ordered my first Footner from Amazon, tried it this evening...quite strange but will report back in a few days. Reviews were good so I have high hopes it works for me! I’ve also ordered some Chiropdy sponges 😀 Love Mumsnet

Shnoggi · 03/04/2018 22:34

Oh Jesus!!! Have led a sheltered life so just googled a Footer -VOM images🤢- I'll not sleep

BanyanTree · 04/04/2018 08:36

Fullfatlatte, you have to give it at least 10/11 days to work. I am a total cynic when it comes to beauty products but totally rate the footner. You have to time it well otherwise you end up at a special event with flaking feet. I spent a hot weekend in Cornwall with bits of skin hanging off my flip flops.

Thegirl, I feel I have totally neglected myself all winter too. I feel so frumpy at the moment.

Do you buy Newton's Chiropody sponge? Can you get them in the high street?

Itmakesthereaderreadon · 04/04/2018 08:45

I find my feet are in better condition after winter cos they're wrapped up in.socks or tights. Summer wrecks them.

I went the whole winter without shaving my legs. Been hairy for the first time in 25 years and quite liked it. However. Last Sunday it all came off and today I have Dove summer glowed for the first time (only because I am trying wedding guest dresses on when I go shopping tomorrow).

I would like to ditch my winter coat, but it's raining again.

echt · 04/04/2018 10:39

Am now in the autumn of Melbourne and can safely say that having the toenails varnished and feet generally scrubbed and scoured is tops for summer. Footner six-monthly.

I am scant of hair and have not shaved my legs for 50 years. No moisturiser beats a 50+ sunscreen on legs and arms.

Don't forget backs of hands and tops of feet when sunscreening

Whatif with regards to body brushing - it is recommended that you do long stokes towards the heart.

gingercat02 · 04/04/2018 20:15

Oh I need in on this one folks. Started eating properly ignore Wine to lose 1/2 stone ish. Need to sort the hooves and defur generally. Will probably think of lots more but that would be a good start Grin

Whatififall · 04/04/2018 20:20

Thanks crumble, that’s what I’ve been doing but then thought that maybe circular ones would break down cellulite. I’ll keep on with the long strokes towards the heart.

Judydreamsofhorses · 04/04/2018 22:10

It was snowing here today. I walked through the shops itching to spend money, and bought nothing, because it seems impossible that it is ever going to get warmer.
