Electrolysis and Laser hair removal

Has anyone had either of these? At my last bikini wax, I asked my beautician if she would show me how the electrolysis worked. Crikey, it was very uncomfortable. I think she did 4 hair follicles and said there was a lot of resistance and had to turn the current up Shock

She suggested I try laser but said she thought that would also sting slightly but a bigger area would be done at one time, rather than one follicle at a time.

Can anyone enlighten me? I have normal/olive skin with dark hair - any experiences welcome Easter Grin

I have light skin dark hair and it worked really really well for me!

hurts though!

I am having laser done. Light skin and dark hair so I'm the perfect candidate! It has never once hurt. You may feel a little plucking sensation when the laser catches a hair follicle. I would highly recommend it

I've had both.

If you have dark hair and light skin, you are the ideal candidate for laser - which was me. Laser worked brilliantly for my legs and underarms. Underarms wasn't that painful and I didn't even need the full lot of sessions. Legs was fairly painful but now I have a few hairs that take 10 seconds with a razor.

Face was a different story. Laser worked up to a point. I am really hairy on my face and had loads of laser and basically it was just making them finer and paler but still really obvious - but pale hairs won't get picked up by the laser. And darker hairs would keep appearing. Sodding hormones.

Nurse eventually said she wouldn't take my money any more and advised electrolysis.

Electrolysis hurts differently and it varies depending on the place and the day. Some days I would go and not feel it, other days it really hurt. I now have v few hairs left and just have 5-10 minutes as and when I feel I need it - initially was doing 45 minutes fortnightly. It's been a much better result than the laser.

So both have been good for me in different places.

Oh final bit of advice - go to a proper clinic that has a range of machines, not a beauty salon just doing IPL for laser. Then they can change the frequency according to your skin type and how you are progressing.

I would imagine electrolysis on your bikini line is excruciating. Def try laser.
