Could someone recommend me a new lipstick please?

My previous lipstick got discontinued. This was Revlon Colorstay Ultimate liquid lipstick in Iconic Iris.

I changed to Max Factor's lipfinity in Pearly Nude (001) which I felt was a good substitute in terms of colour. Performance wise it is okay, I do not make use of the gloss, it goes straight in the bin, and the lipstick doesn't last that long, so I feel I am paying way too much for this product.

I would describe this colour as a deep nude pink with plum/raisin/mauve tones? Pinks with brown undertones don't suit me at all. Anything dark makes my fading lips look smaller. but anything too light doesn't look right and it never lasts anyway.

Can anyone think of a brand/shade I could try? I like the ones that last all day (which usually means about 6 hours) and don't have scent to them.

TIA!

Have you tried Bobbi Brown? They have hundreds of variations on nude / pink / brown shades in various formats. For one that lasts a few hours you could try their pencils (Art Stick).

Funnily enough yes, I have a Bobby Brown Lipstick in pink nude. It's quite a nice shade on me but I feel it has no lasting power. Perhaps I should combine it with the Art Stick?

I've been reading about the Art Stick. It sounds amazing!! I might just have to go and purchase one - not sure what shade though... perhaps also the Bobby Brown plum eyeshadow... Thank you chimpandzee!

You're never going to get longevity from a regular lipstick unfortunately so you'll either have to get into the habit of reapplying or try other long lasting types like Maybelline 24 or lip stains, but they don't have as many shades as lipfinity.

I haven't used Lipfinity in years, but without the gloss I would imagine it's very drying, no?

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 01/04/2018 08:13

Yes it is a bit drying but for some reason I can't bear the feel of gloss on my lips. I find it distracting.

Kat Von D in either Double Dare or Lolita II. They are both super flattering pink shades.

There are pictures here. The website refers to limited edition but they are now permanent. You can get them from Debenhams, and they also do a lip liner in Lolita II (which works well with Double Dare as well as they are pretty similar).

I prefer them as a regular lipstick (studded kiss) but you can get them as a liquid if you prefer (everlasting lipstick). The liquid lipsticks have amazing staying power but they can be a little drying tbh, although I naturally have rather dry lips.

They are the best lipsticks I have ever tried and get compliments when wearing them. If you do get them, get them from Debenhams as the ones for sale on eBay are almost always fakes from China. They don't have a Kat Von D stand at all the Debenhams branches yet but do at some and you can still get it mail order/delivered to the store if they don't have one near you.

I have a By Terry liquid lipstick that sounds like the colour you’re going for, I can’t remember the name of the exact shade though.

Hi Peace, bought THIS a few days ago, and love it. Great colour, mat and long lasting, good value too.

loveisevol · 01/04/2018 09:08

I swear by Jeffree star liquid lipsticks.

Babybearsporij · 01/04/2018 17:00

What about MAC Velvet Teddy?

Babybearsporij · 01/04/2018 17:01

Or MAC Patisserie is quite close. Or Brave?

Scotschic · 01/04/2018 17:03

To the op, if you want a matte lippy then I would try Mac, it has many many shades and so you will definitely find the shade that you want. Also Charlotte Tilbury matte ones are good too, pricey but worth it!

chimpandzee · 01/04/2018 18:17

Peace sounds like a good combo! I find the Art Stick lasts for a good while and is not too drying either, but I also combine it with another one on top too sometimes. Hope you like it. I am now going to check out the Plum eyeshadow!!

You’ll like Stila’s liquid lipstick in Perla - I’m v fair and it’s a blue toned, dusky yet deep pink. Not a Barbie-ish pink; a grown-up MLBB shade.

lovemylover · 01/04/2018 19:07

I cant see they are all matt and mostly dark in the MF Innfinity
I love Maybelline, it lasts forever
The colour i have is a lovely kind of orange, cant remember the name ,and its worn off the case but its a shiny one

thisnthat · 01/04/2018 22:42

You can still buy the Revlon Iconic Iris on Amazon - I’ve always loved the same lipstick in the “nude” colour and have always managed to get it on Amazon since it was discontinued.

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 09/04/2018 10:23

Thanks thisnthat, you're right, but it would cost me £25 with delivery, and it is not a £25 lipstick. I would rather find an alternative that pay that price. I think I used to buy it in Boots for round £8.
