Hi all
Be gentle I am still a beginner at this, as you might be about to agree! I am mid 40s and after some putting together of info from various threads am planning on following routine

Am - superdrug vit e hot cleanser. Then avene e extremely rich moisturiser. Then spf30+ high UVA sun cream. Then makeup

Evening. Same cleanser. Then either (building up to -alternating) la Roche posay readermic Cream - 0.3% building up to 1% over the next year . Alternate evenings with m&s alpha h liquid gold

Hands. Same sun cream. Moisturiser.

Does this sound about right? Don't want to be ott but do want to do what I can at reasonable expense

See rosehip oil mentioned but wouldn't have a clues where to fit this in! Anything else obvious I am missing?

Thanks in advance oh knowledge ones Smile

I’m so sorry I can’t give you any advice, I just run a Simple wipe over my face and hope for the best

LanguidLobster · 31/03/2018 03:01

Puffycat I'm the same as you!

I like using things then get bored and wander off.

Sorry OP hopefully the knowledge people will be along soon. Does your routine suit you?

Rosehip goes on after treatments and before moisturiser. I don't know what the LRP base is - but generally you put watery stuff on first, then oils and then creams. The 3 products of anti aging are retinoids, acids and vitamin C. Rosehip oil contains some vitamin C but you might want to incorporate another. I think in the morning as you're already using actives in the evening.

You only really need a hot cloth cleanser to remove make so I would stick with that in the evening but swap it in the morning for a non-foaming wash (as an example I use LRP Effaclar, but have spotty skin. You might be ok with something like Cetaphil) you could add a vit C serum before moisturiser (eg there’s one called glow something by superfacialist, it has sparkly bits in it which do make your face ‘glow’ which I like).
If you have any blackheads/spots I would add an acid toner with salycilic acid (the LRP effaclar one is good) after cleansing kn the evening but not use either the redermic or alpha gold afterwards so you’d need to use those say twice a week each (which I would probably cut down to anyway. I don’t use alpha gold but do have the LRP redermic which is good but I only use it max twice a week). I think you need to start v slowly with anything retinol related and build up slowly both with strength and frequency.
Hope that helps a bit!

In the evening you should use the same face wash from the morning after the hot cloth cleanser and ditch the sun cream (you only need this in the morning when you’re going outside).

Oh my paragraphs got switched around there! Should still make sense hopefully.

Thanks for the useful advice! So maybe new wash for the am then add rosehip oil or vit c serum. So it would be wash / oil or serum/ moisturise/ sun cream? How long do you wait between products?
Thanks

I wait until I think it's absorbed. The rosehip tends to sit on my skin a bit though, but I think I've been using too much. Some people mix a couple of drops with their moisturiser. I let the moisturiser sink in a bit too, usually don't apply sunscreen till before I have to leave the house, so it might be 30 mins or up to an hour later. Sometimes I do another layer of moisturiser in between, especially on my forehead and neck. I haven't added a Vit C product myself though. I often don't bother with cleansing in the morning, depends on what I've used the night before.
