Chinos

I'd like to wear more 100% cotton clothing and for trousers, chinos seem a really easy option.

I don't know how to style them, can anyone offer any suggestions?

I would style them with a pair of loafers or flats and a simple t-shirt. Or a Breton top. Also, Boden has good ideas for styling Chinos.

It's not seen as too fuddy-duddy to wear them, is it? I've been in jeans and leggings for 20 years since waving bye bye to my combats...I'm late 30's.

They are certainly a classic look but wearing them with a cute flat or kitten heel gives them a more modern look. I will try to find a picture.

I personally don't like the classic chino colour shown here, I think it's a bit frumpy, but I have a couple of pairs in a dark pink (raspberry) colour from Comptoir des Cotonniers (half price sale) and a washed black pair from Hush, both gorgeous and much less "fuddy-duddy" than beige.

Definitely look on the Boden website at the Rachel chino trouser. Sorry I’m not very good at posting links.

raindropsandsunshine · 30/03/2018 18:40

Oh yes the Rachel ones are lovely, I like the navy and the pink!

rain saw some lovely 100% cotton chinos in M&S today for £19.99 in loads of great colours. Worth checking out.

Oh how I miss my combats and cargo trousers! Has it really been 20 years since they were "in"? Surely it's time for a comeback?!
Funny enough OP I'd just been googling chino's before I saw your post so hoping to pick up some ideas!

It’s still a chic look to wear well cut chinos and a shirt. A cashmere cardigan on top. Loafers or white leather plimsoles. It’s easy.

PNGirl · 01/04/2018 08:07

I wear navy ones with bright red loafers and a boxy t-shirt. I have never found a jacket that goes though so only when it's warmish.

My only tip for chinos is re fit and colour. They are meant to have a relaxed fit. Nude colored chinos that fit too closely (and leggings, etc) give the appearance of odd skin.

I enjoy a chino. I tend to buy them in mad colours and I've had some Sainsburys ones as well as M&S. Invested in some Uniqlo ones too. I have to have quite a long leg as I wear safety boots for work (lovely - I used to live in a skater dress and tights with loafers but now I have a lot more trousers which is not as comfy!). I have a raspberry coloured pair which are my favourite. Black top, Dr Martens safety boots. Wool blend trousers are too hot for summer even up in the frozen North. Someone on here gave me the idea to look at Hilfiger ones in their sales. Generous discount and very nice material.

Not what you asked but I've seen a lot of camo print trousers on instagram at the moment so I think they're coming back in.

I like chinos but stay away from nude so I don't look too much like topsy and Tim's mum

QueenOfIce · 03/04/2018 12:20

Can you wear chinos if you're an Apple? I tried on M&S chinos and they looked awful on me.
