Looking for a nice yellow based red lipstick

Blue toned reds don’t suit me as I am a “spring” in colour terms. Would love a nice yellow based red, preferably a bit sheer (but hate gloss - feels too sticky on my lips). Don’t mind if it’s expensive as i never seem to use up lipsticks!

Thank you !

Surely "a yellow based red" = orange??

Notcontent · 29/03/2018 21:43

No, not orange! The difference is basically tomato red v berry red. A subtle difference but an important one, depending on your skin tone.

I think what you mean is not a blue-based red?! The orangey-reds can be really flattering on a darker complexion but are definitely not your friend if you’re pale! And beware if you don’t bleach your teeth as those shades can make your teeth look really yellow. But... onto recommendations... check out Mac. Tons of colours in a variety of finishes, I’m thinking the shade Chili might be the sort of thing you’re looking for but if not then there are loads of others to choose from.

Don’t you need an orange red?
You have a yellow undertone?

And other stories. I found the one on Saturday. I will look up the name for you tomorrow. It was £12 & it's perfect tomato red.

Notcontent · 29/03/2018 22:26

Agatha - is it the sheer one, £12, and called incise cayenne? (Just had a peek on the website)

Hello, clinique chubby stick in two ton tomato might suit you. Its fairly sheer and a lovely tomato red x

Revlon Candy Apple is a favourite, I have pale skin and find lots of red go a bit purpley on me.

Revlon Rich girl red is a nice sheer red. Also Mac Habanero if you like a thicker formula.
