.... you have dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin tones, autumn colours for clothes. Never seem to get it right, even when recommended by various beauty consultants.
Inspired by another thread but the OP on that has different colouring.

Anyone?

Would have thought berry tones, no?

What might be helpful is to go to MAC and get matched to a shade - say NC30 or whatever you would be - then google lipsticks to suit that shade. Temptalia and various YouTube videos do this and they're not all MAC lipstick shade recommendations - tend to be across all beauty range

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 03/04/2018 17:28

Thank you both. Will go to MAC and Bobbie Brown, was just wondering what other MNers with similar colouring wear as sometimes that way you hear about brands and colours you wouldn’t necessarily think of yourself, often cheaper too. I’ve had some lovely lipglosses from Bourjois for example

I’m dark with pale skin so different colouring to you but I found the no 7 moisture drench lipsticks very good. They have little cards/ colour match palettes at the beauty counter to suggest which shade goes with which skin tone. I had always struggled to wear coral but have now found one that I can wear thanks to them. It’s also only a tenner and they have 3 for 2 at the moment.

TheBorgCollective · 03/04/2018 18:14

I go for either Rimmel Heather Shimmer or Fudge Brownie

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 03/04/2018 20:32

Thank you, will check out those Rimmel colours. I do like No 7 lipsticks, I used to love Golden Rose and Plum beautiful, not sure if they still make those colours

Sounds like your colouring is similar to me OP. I did the no7 colour match thing and got Moisture Drench in:

360 Rose Berry (bright pink)
770 Soft Paprika (bright red)
490 Pink Hint (a more 'nude' pink).

They are fantastic, wear really well and reapply well too. Those colours look really natural for me, even the bright ones!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 03/04/2018 22:25

Thanks @EyeDrops - that’s interesting, I am not a pink person at all, will try the colour march at Boots - can’t get to one for a while as going away. Thanks to everyone who responded

@TheBorgCollective found the Rimmel Heather lipstick in Boots at the airport - what a lovely colour and one I would never have chosen. Thank you!!

I don't have your colouring but in case you want any more lipsticks I'm just going to rave about Kat Von D's Lolita and Lolita II because they are so beautiful.

Here is someone with olive skin wearing them:

I prefer the studded kiss lipstick (which is like a normal lipstick) to the everlasting lipstick (liquid lipstick) as that dries my lips slightly. You can get them from Debenhams - don't get the cheap ones on eBay as they are fake.
