Gel nails (with extensions)

I really want to get long gel nails. I have had just gel paint, or used temporaries but never had gel extensions done. So, rough estimate on what it should cost, and how often do they need doing? infills/replacements.

Another weird one, can they put an artificial nail on a toe? I have a broken toe nail and it will look dreadful in sandals Sad

I've never had gel extensions before but I'm pretty sure they're expensive.

Could you maybe get gels done normally and let your natural nail grow? Mine are natural nail and gel, anyone who knows me knows my hands have always been chewed with chewed horrid short nails, I decided to get gels done regularly (get them re done before the current come off - 2/3 weeks) they've just got stronger etc

Tried to attach an image but it's not attached

Attached this time (I thank!)

I sometimes get tips on if I have broken nails, I'm getting mine done tonight and as some of my own nails are quite long I think I might only need 3 tips. A set of full tips with gel finish costs me £20

Full set of gel nails cost me £36 every 3 weeks

You can have sculpted nails on your toes - I had French manicure 'Hollywood toes' for my honeymoon. They looked immaculate for weeks.

Thanks.
My nails grow so fast when I had gel on natural nails they needed doing a week later.
Maybe growing with gel would work, as it does make them so much stronger. Otherwise I break a few and cut them all off to make it even.
Will definitely get my toes done when the sun perks up
I might have to grin and bare for a few weeks at the swimming pool though as its a lot on both.
Do they get discoloured by chlorine? I think it would probably be negligible if I was having them done weekly

£32 where I am, I only get them done for holidays as my own nails snap, as I find getting them done repeatedly trashes my nails and makes them really weak

roseyposeyshmosey · 28/03/2018 14:02

full set of gel extensions in my city at can be £30+ depending on if you want anything fancy with colours. I had a French ombre that was about £36.

infills needed every 3 weeks but if change the colour and that would be about £20-25.

the only problem with having just the gel colour is that it can actually weaken your own nail sometimes.

I've given up on both completely and now just use Primark stick on nails with their own glue. honestly they're amazing, stay on for a week and do no worse damage than gel colour or extensions, and they're only £1!!

Daffodils78 · 28/03/2018 15:26

I used to use the primark nails but they only ever lasted a day or night. Maybe the glue has improved!!!

Chlorine can cause the nail coating to break down and either lift or chip.
