Rubbish skin!

I have worse skin now at 40 than I did at 20. It's dry dehydrated and spotty! I have been going through quite a stressful time lately so that's not helped .. also it always seems better in the sunshine and there isn't much of that about!

I use neal yards moisturiser as skin is sensitive and have been slathering that on tonight. I wonder if it's the start of the menopause? Anyone else suffering?

The biggest and best thing you can do is use a hydrating toner. It makes your skin feel great, fine lines are minimised because the skin plumps up and you won't look so tired, I promise. It just evens out your skin tone, balances dry patches, soothes and calms the skin. You will still need other things after the toner, at the very least, a moisturiser, but it can make a huge difference.

I use <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=beautyandseoul.co.uk/collections/new-arrivals/products/pyunkang-yul-essence-toner?variant=405610594322" target="_blank">Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner but there are many others - and available from some uk stockists or from eBay. Make sure there's no alcohol and no witch hazel. It's not meant to be a cleansing toner as we're used to in Western skincare.

On clean skin, put a few drops on your fingertips and pat in. Do several layers, I usually do 3-4. Follow up with a moisturiser like La Roche Posay Toleriane moisturiser.

The Toleriane Dermo Cleanser is good too or Avène Extremely Gentle Cleanser.

Gothamista does great videos on skincare. src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/F9_mJoK4gr4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen> 44_

Sort out the hydration and it will put your skin in a much stronger and balanced position, in order to tackle other issues. It's been a complete revelation to me.

Think I’m seeing double. Is this an advert?

No, it's called giving advice. And the video is freely available on YouTube.
