Love it or hate it?

I have 4 necklaces I wear to death and they never tarnish it is the only jewellery which I get compliments on. Any thoughts?

Are you sure it's not tarnished by the stench of MLM Hun?

Chienrouge · 27/03/2018 21:09

Like some of it, don’t like others. Like any retailer really.
It’s all over priced.

Redrosebelle · 27/03/2018 21:10

Are they the ones who sell through other people? I’m sure I’ve been invited to an online ‘party’ by a friend of a friend. When I looked the jewellery was so expensive - 100 quid for a necklace Shock I find jewellery is only really worth a lot if it has a special meaning behind it - for example as a gift from a friend or husband. There’s no way I’d spend that amount of money on myself. And I’ve seen similar things in new look Blush

INeedNewShoes · 27/03/2018 21:10

Some of the jewellery is nice but I wouldn't spend that amount on it. The selling scheme is unpalatable and basically works by the rep's friends being too embarrassed to refuse to buy any whether they want it or not.

Chienrouge · 27/03/2018 21:10

Just to point out I’ve never actually bought any but I have a MLM bot on my Facebook who sells it.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/03/2018 21:15

I've got a few of their things, all bought through their website. It is all really nice quality for costume jewellery. I have also been to a S&D party which was actually good for seeing all the products but I didn't buy anything there. I wouldn't put it in the same category as say Younique, MLM-wise, more like Avon (as the products aren't crap).

branstonbaby · 27/03/2018 21:28

Mass produced, overpriced MLM shite.

I much prefer buying from artists direct.

IronicWittyUsername · 27/03/2018 21:34

Hate. Mlm overpriced shit.

It's just me then Angry by the way I don't sell it. I have avoided the other MLM. So any alternatives I can look at

WrenNatsworthy · 27/03/2018 22:20

I don't really like costume jewellery at all.

I don't see why you'd pay the Stella and Dot prices when you can get something made from precious metal for the same price.

That said I do own a Stella and Dot bag which has lasted well.

RainyApril · 27/03/2018 22:28

I attended a party and thought it was no better than cheap supermarket fashion jewellery, but much more expensive.

To support my friend I ordered three items that were the best of a bad bunch.

When they arrived the quality was significantly worse than the samples I'd handled at the party. The earrings didn't even feel like they were made of metal, they were so light and flimsy, with bent posts. My dd said it was similar to Primark quality.

I returned them all and did receive a refund, albeit a long time later.

LanaorAna2 · 27/03/2018 22:43

What does MLM mean?

AnaViaSalamanca · 27/03/2018 22:44

OP are you doing research? If not, you have four necklaces that you love, then why look for alternatives?

If doing market research, be less obvious.

KatyS36 · 27/03/2018 22:47

I think it's massively overpriced. I've got two pieces I really like and I feel pull an outfit together, one from a party and one from ebay (if the latter is a fake it's an extremely good one!)

MelonKim · 27/03/2018 22:47

Plain silver hoops Have been going for me for about three years, and I bought them for another friend and she agrees that the best shape she’s ever had

MelonKim · 27/03/2018 22:48

Also their wrap bracelet. Andcthe renegade one

toffee1000 · 27/03/2018 22:48

MLM: multi level marketing. Essentially a pyramid scheme in all but name.

MelonKim · 27/03/2018 22:48

I just Buy online

ILoveDolly · 27/03/2018 22:49

Some of my friends sell it. It is costume jewellery of average quality but generally nice if you want something eye catching and aren't looking for heirloom pieces. You would get something more lasting from an artisan and cheaper from the high street, but maybe you are buying to also be nice to your friend, and that's an ok reason too.

Clickncollect · 27/03/2018 23:02

One of my birthday presents is a bracelet from Stella & Dot (I believe she has a friend who sells it).
It's a nice bracelet but lost two of the stones from it on its first outing! I only went for a quiet dinner where I was driving, so not a boozy night where it could get roughed up! So I would have concerns about the quality.

KatyS36 · 27/03/2018 23:05

I have very little free time, (working mum), so for me a party hosted by a neighbour was an easy way of trying some new things.

Wineloffa · 27/03/2018 23:08

I once bought a pair of very over-priced earrings at a Stella & Dot party. Within a week, I'd lost a stone from them and they eventually tarnished and made my ears black! Not worth the money..

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/03/2018 09:57

Maybe I have been lucky with the pieces I bought. I also had great customer service from them when I snapped a Renegade bracelet and they just sent me another free.
So I've had:
2 renegade gold bracelets
Gold renegade drop earrings
1 long heavy gold pendant
Another pair of gold drop earrings with a big pale blue stone in
All really nice and none have tarnished. My friend, MIL and SIL also all really like their jewellery/bags (and my friend has a few of their £200 statement necklaces Shock). So maybe it's a bit hit or miss?

sportyfool · 28/03/2018 10:01

I didn't get it , it's super expensive for costume jewellery . You can get similar stuff in Primark if you have a good eye .
