Can't find my bra size!

I've been reading a bit about the bra intervention stuff and thought I'd give it a go as I've never felt like my bras fit very well.

I've got an underbust measurement of 26" and a 'bending over around the bust' measurement of 31", which I think puts me as a 28C. However, my left boob is at least half a cup bigger than my right so I think I'd be better in a 28B. I've been wearing a 30A which is definitely too big around the chest (I can get my whole arm between my chest and the bra!).

My issue is, where do you find 28 back bras that aren't training bras?! Ideally I want a nice push up bra, I really like Boux Avenue ones but the only ones they do in a 28B aren't padded.

Can anyone help me find a 28B push up bra that's not from the kids' section please?? Blush

Your measurements give 26DD and sister sizes would be 28D, 30C. Probably need to buy online

Brastop?

Frogthefrog · 26/03/2018 22:38

Maybe I measured wrong... I definitely don't have anywhere near DD cups! They are definitely more a B cup. The 26" back measurement is definitely right. How tight are you supposed to pull the tape measure for the overbust measurement?

According to bra fitters you always fit your bra to your largest boob as it's more noticeable the other way round.

I am also a 28. New look did some nice ones but seem to now start at 32 sadly.

treaclesoda · 26/03/2018 23:21

this comes in 26DD

If you've been wearing a 30A, that would suggest a 31 inch overbust measurement, so your 31 inches measurement sounds exactly right, and as a PP said, that's a 26DD. If you tried a 28B it would almost certainly feel too tight around the ribs despite being bigger than your actual back measurement, because the cups would not have enough room in them. It's a huge misconception that a DD is a big size. All DDs are different sizes depending on the back measurement, so some DDs are big and some are really really petite.

Have a look at some of the Polish Brands like Ewa Michalak and Comexim. They will usually do a custom 26 or even 24 back and are very much not in the style of training bras! Word of warning though: their sizing is really different (and can vary dependent upon style) so once you have a good idea of your U.K. size, you’ll need to do some research on bratabase, Reddit etc. To work out your equivalent size.

I am a 26 back really but wear a 28G.

Bravissimo, rigby peller, & boux avenue do q diffusion line in store.

If you are struggling to find 26's, buy sister size in 28 and use a rixie clip.

Tell me about it, I feel your pain. My bra size is complicated by having a mastectomy and wearing a prosthesis, though. So methods where you measure overbust (instead of lean over) with bra on is what I've been using. Otherwise it'd be trying to measure one side and doubling up which I can imagine being fraught with possibility for errors.

I've tried just about every online calculator with pretty wide variation. I wear 36DD but at my most recent fitting was 38E. The 38E is super comfortable but my bust is definitely lower and bigger looking. I don't spill out of the 36DD and the back strap doesn't ride up, however straps do fall down from time to time. However my bust is higher and looks better supported. I'm 34 underbust and 40 overbust with bra on.

There is the difference with methodology and sizing in manufacturers too. So do you go with their methodology and recommended size for their product? Or bra intervention method?

truetrunk · 27/03/2018 08:34

And how can a 38E look like it fits? No gaps. No riding up. And a 36DD look like it fits too? Only difference in appearance is height of bust. Must be difference in sizing, I concluded, unless someone else can make sense of this.
