Bridal underwear

Hello lovely people, I've never posted in here before but I'm getting married in a few weeks and I was wondering if you could help me find something to wear under my dress. I don't need a bra, just knickers, apparently I don't need shape wear, but I do suffer a bit with thigh chafing, and I don't want that on the day! I'm a size 14 and 5ft 2, my dress has a fitted bodice and full skirt.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Is your dress right around the thigh area? If not chaffing shouldn’t be an issue. Dust your inner thighs with talc before putting dress on that should help. Also have a trusty bridesmaid help you re apply in the night if you get a bit warm! Don’t wear tight short type underwear will be a nightmare to get on and off whilst holding up bottom of dress when you need the loo! I did the talc trick and then just wore a normal brief style lace pants x

Are you looking for something beautiful? Or something functional? If you’ve got one near you, I recommend taking a look in Rigby & Peller

katmarie · 26/03/2018 11:15

Thanks both! The dress is loose on my hips, it's this one if you'd like to see? www.mollybrowns.co.uk/weddings/wedding-dresses/17911-orleans-ivory-ronald-joyce.html

I'd ideally like something pretty, but functionality is more important, as I've got a nightdress to change into when we go to bed for the wedding night (assuming we both have the energy lol) Even with a loose skirt I do get chafing, but we do have plenty of baby powder in the house so I'll try that out with a skirt on and see how it feels, before I buy anything specific. Sadly no Rigby and Peller near me, but I'll have a look on their website, thanks :)

That's a gorgeous dress. Lush do an ultra fine powder that stops chafing.

Get a BodyGlide stick, magic stuff, apply liberally to inner thighs. No thigh chafing, no need for bulky underwear.

Beautiful dress!! Agree with bodyglide or talc... not both though!

Then you can just pick yourself some lovely fancy knickers from a nice boutique?

Stunning dress, I was advised to wear flesh coloured underwear then it doesn't show. If you have thigh chafing problems I'd go for comfort rather than sexy!

Search the internet for flesh coloured control shorts, it brings up loads!

Another vote for Bodyglide. Wonderful stuff.

I had a beautiful matching set of sexy underwear + stockings and ended up taking it off in the loos as it was boiling hot under my dress and v much the opposite of sexy.

Thanks all, I'll give the body glide a try too :)

Now my next job, bridal makeup, no idea where to start there! Can you tell I'm not good at this whole dressing up thing?

Re bridal makeup, what is your normal style and how do you want to look? Are you doing it yourself? If so, a makeup lesson at a counter might be a good idea. Bobbi Brown and Charlotte Tilbury are good, but depends what look you want

katmarie · 28/03/2018 07:49

On a day to day basis I don't wear any makeup, but when I go out I tend to focus on my eyes. I really want to look like me but fresher faces, less tired, and generally healthy looking! I'll try the makeup counter trip, im also looking at makeup artists who can come and do a trial, I'm not sure I want the pressure of doing my own makeup on the day!
