Nude fishnets on dancers

I'm just watching a dance show similar to Strictly and the dancers wear nude fishnets.
Why?
Are they more slimming on the leg ?

I always thought it was because they conceal cellulite (not that there is anything wrong with cellulite)

eloisesparkle · 26/03/2018 20:31

I'm sure there's a reason.

Apparently - sweat, visibility, durability

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/03/2018 20:36

Because Beyonce and JLo.

Personally I think they're hideous. Usually worn with flesh coloured support tights underneath. I suppose to 'slim' the legs and control the wobble.

I just think they make peoples legs look solid and chunky.

My dd, who dances, wears hers to give her a consistent colour on her legs and for an overall "finished" look. Also, better for wearing in her latin shoes and helps prevent sweaty feet when dancing for long periods of time.

I once read an interview with Tina Turner who said she wore them because they give great support when she's on stage.

Personally I really like them, and I wear them when I need 'nude' legs because a pair of 15 denier last about twenty minutes before they've got ladders in. But I very very rarely have the need for 'nude' legs, thank goodness!

They make your legs look better as in smoother, more even etc

puppower · 26/03/2018 20:52

and also less likely to ladder.

Fishnets for dance predate Beyonce/JLo by decades. They're dancer's tights. Capezio makes a very good pair but they're so firm they're a bit hard to breathe in.

One of my favourite items of clothing circa 2000ish was a pair of khaki/drab fishnets. They were like a medium sludgy grey-green. They weren't tan/orange or brown or pasty beige but they also weren't Ann Summers cliche black. They made everything look neat but a little edgy and they gave just the right tone to my skimmed milk legs. I wore them to shreds and could never find another pair in quite the right colour, but if I had I'd probably be wearing them right now.

'They're dancers' tights' is what that was meant to say. Hmm
