So I'm going to dye my hair blue ...

It's a new brand (directions) and I'm worried it'll stain the bathroom!

Any tips to keep the bathroom white?

(Sorry I know it's a dull thread)

It will stain if you get it on sealant or tile grout. Rinse and scrub the minute it touches anything. Then rinse and scrub some more.

CIF and a slightly scoury pad will remove it, as will toothpaste.
You'll probably need to put some of the hair colour in your conditioner, as blue can fade quite fast.

Spray surfaces with hairspray first. Will make it easier to clean off

Thanks Smile

I don't mind about it fading, I've got dark hair anyway so it'll only be a tint I expect

Directions does stain. I've done 3 toilet seats, some grouting, and a doorframe off the top of my head. Never have I managed to stain any bathtubs though for some reason.

You could liberally coat anything in petroleum jelly, or perhaps cling film the loo seat?

true story: my daughter wanted vibrant red

i dyed it in the back garden and washed off with the garden hose

just sayin Grin

sourpatchkid · 24/03/2018 23:28

Ah balls!

Too cold for backgarden I think ...

Cling film in the shower might work? It's a glass panel all round so that's just the floor to worry about right?

I don't know if this will help but when I dyed my sister's hair ages ago we worried about the same thing happening as the bathroom was new..so she sat in the bath naked wearing a black bin bag (turn it upside down and make a neck hole and armholes...it stops the dye getting on skin and dying it, and the dye rinses off the bag...and can be thrown away afterwards)...we carefully applied the dye...she stayed in the bath, didn't move around so there was no drips....then when time was up she rinsed as normal....we didn't have any dye stains to clean up and no dyed towels or stained clothing....hope this helps Grin

Gods luck op, I think blue hair is fabulous and always makes me think of retro comic book super heros!

TinyRick · 25/03/2018 12:56

Directions isn't new Wink

Which blue have you picked? Directions isn't actually that bad for staining, I have used way worse.

Bleach spray and those magic erasers have always worked for me.

sourpatchkid · 25/03/2018 21:30

A bin bag is genius! But it's also good to know it's not that bad for staining 😊

(I meant directions is new to me, not new in general 😊- I've gone for blue denim)
