How do you wear high heels ?!

I have just spent half an hour trying to find my favourite flat shoes and have had to wear my heels instead they are absolute agony and have had to stop at a friends and borrow a pair of her ankle boots to save my from an evening of pain !! However I know plenty of women who will happily spend an evening wearing these instruments of torture - how? Why? And do they ever stop hurting???

I can't wear heels unless they're wide fit, have cushioned insoles, no higher than a mid heel, no pointy toe (only open or round/almond shaped) and have a strap to go around the ankle or top of the foot so I can allow some wiggle room for inevitable swelling. I also have to insert gel cushioning just about everywhere inside the shoe and take a full range of differently sized plasters in my bag.

It's an absolute ball ache reserved only for dressy occasions.

Any other time, flats or low wedges only.

Poorly padded and/or tight toe bits make heels uncomfy. If you've enough room without pinching your toes or pulling the bottom of the balls of your feet, it's mostly about getting your balance right and making sure the balls of your toes don't take all your weight.

In bed. [grin[

I think you have to wear them often for it to work.

That's why stilettoes of any height can be uncomfy - the small heel makes ot difficult to get your balance right so you end up putting all your weight on your toes.

I can only wear Theresa May kittens. The shame

@flaggerblasted @HildaZelda
I'm with you both, I wouldn't be without mine and I agree you do get used to them. I love the phrase "clip clipping" BTW :-) do that lots at work
Sorry Thirtyrock39 that you had an uncomfortable time, hope you had a fun Saturday night anyhow :-)

I cant walk in them, nor do I think many people can. Even lowish block heels hurt my feet quite quickly
