Passport photo/make up help

So I need a new passport, but I look awful in all the pics, I think a combo of neutral expression/no hair on face. My face looks huge with no definition between cheeks/cheekbones/chin etc I look like a white dinner plate with raisins as eyes. So as the light is no good (im doing online application) I need to try again tomorrow. Is there anything I can try with make up to make more of the pic? I had a fair amount of make up on but didn't look like I did in pics 😭
I know I shouldn't care but I've had 10 years of one where I was heavily pregnant and had a giant moon face. I've recently lost weight as well and I look just as bad, if I could just make it a bit better, It would really help my pretty low self esteem .
Any ideas appreciated 😘

Avoid snappysnaps

Instead, go to a,local photographer who also does passport pics

World of difference!

Also, read this thread

You are not alone Grin

Does it really matter? Everyone looks shite in their passport photo

Bluefrontdoor · 23/03/2018 20:44

Phew that thread made me feel better!

No it really doesn't matter I was all ok about it until I saw the photos. Im not photogenic at all and I have zero self esteem, my face really is my worst feature 😭😭😭 but I just thought maybe I was looking ok today, flick through a few photos and now feel like it's pointless spending money on a passport or holiday as I clearly need to save for some form of face transplant 🤔

I wrongly thought I was doing something wrong to look so bad, but clearly a straight on photo with no hair on face looking grumpy, but not too grumpy is a look no one can pull off 😂😂

Have you tried a heavy contour? Make up that looks good in photos usually looks too heavy in real life.

I would go heavy on the highlighter and shade/bronzer if you want to shape your face.

DollyPartonsBeard · 23/03/2018 20:49

Lots of blusher/ bronzer helps, as does gentle definition round the eyes - a grey or taupe shadow artfully smudged along the lash lines looks better than full on eyeliner (unless that's your thing, in which case go for it!) The light in photo booths can be very harsh so you need colour on your face, and a brighter lipstick than usual, maybe.

Lastly, apparently pushing your tongue against the roof of your mouth tightens a droopy neck, but be warned, can make you look a bit constipated if you push too hard!

outabout · 23/03/2018 20:51

Not sure that it is not illegal to have makeup on for a passport photograph. Could be worth checking?

CapnHaddock · 23/03/2018 20:53

No it's not illegal to have make up on for a passport photo

anothernewone · 23/03/2018 20:56

Makeup on the photo is not illegal 😂

I had a full face at mac including lashes on mine- I look that good on the photo when I came home from a girls hol with no makeup security laughed at how rough I looked irl

OCSockOrphanage · 23/03/2018 20:56

Over the top exaggerated photographic make up, that you would never wear IRL; think Kardashian. Practise it before, have the pictures taken and swipe it off again before you see anyone you know. Or you will look like a pallid sick version of yourself like everyone else. Passport pictures are the pits.

Bubblebug1 · 23/03/2018 20:58

I always used to look ridiculous because all my features disappeared so I looked like an eyebrow-less moon face.

the last set I wore "stage" make-up. like, tonnes of lipliner, eyebrow pencil and contouring

I looked like a weirdo, but look normal in the photos. done by a photographer not in a booth, too.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/03/2018 21:00

The neutral expression gives me sn 'i hate the west' look that I doubt any amount of makeup would solve. If I ever get convicted of a crime the papers will use my passport photo for sure Grin

Bluefrontdoor · 23/03/2018 22:45

Ok I've googled contouring, gonna get c azy with make up tomorrow, eyeliner, contouring blusher is my friend 😂

Thanks so much for the advice and laughs. Let's hope I never go missing and they use my passport photo they may never find me 🙈
