Which BB or CC cream gives best SPF?

Since I've started using retinol I've been very conscientious about using the LRP Anthelios XL SPF 50 after everyone raved about it on here. But even when I leave it to sink in for 20 minutes it doesn't seem to have fully absorbed and it makes my foundation pill.

This is even worse if I try and apply a moisturiser before applying the sunscreen. I'm thinking of switching instead to a good BB or CC cream and ditching my foundation and separate sunscreen. I have checked out the Clinique CC cream and it has a broad base UVA + UVB SPF 30 sunscreen. Or there's a Bobbi Brown one that's SPF 35. Surely that's a high enough SPF to protect your skin while using retinol?

It's not a BB or CC cream, but I really rate the Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser, which is SPF50, so you don't need a separate sunscreen.

It looks quite thick and "white" when you first apply it, but seems to miraculously soak in, leaving a matt finish. I haven't had a problem with pilling.

Not cheap, though....but M&S sell it, and often do 20% off.

Chanel CC is spf 50 - great coverage and finish is amazing

IT cosmetics CC cream also SPF 50 and great too (QVC)

I also use Heliocare gel sunscreen with a tint .it is SPF 50 and like a tinted moisturiser.- available from amazon here

Skinceuticals mineral radiance UV defense SPF 50, universal tint. I use it daily, I think it’s really good!

Sunscreen within products isn’t supposed to be enough- even at 50.
I use the Boots protect/ perfect ( 50)
after, l apply my Korean B.B. with 42 built in.

I have read that the spfs in foundations/BB and CC creams aren't strong enough for proper coverage. But I read that the Clinique CC cream was developed primarily as skin care not as make up, so wondered if its SPF would be suitable? Also I'm tempted to buy a SPF spray which goes on after make up, so I could touch up during the day.

If the Clinique is then that would be really good. I’d be interested in buying it! :)

OP, I think run-of-the-mill moisturisers and foundations with SPF15 probably aren't sufficient, but the Alpha H SPF50 is positioned more as a sunscreen that moisturises, so I'm happy that it does what it says it does.

Missha bb cream is broad spectrum high spf and gives excellent coverage too. Like most Korean brands they take their spf seriously.

You'd still need a separate spf, unless you were going to really slather it on.

I always have the problem of pilling after sunscreen or allergic reactions as my skin is so sensitive. Ive just bought a brush on mineral sunscreen which I am excited about so that may be an option.

I’ve got this one but it looks like there are a few available.

I actually use the Missha one. It is lovely.
