LVL lashes / eyelash extensions / tinting / general advice

I am not a natural poster to S&B (except for the odd thread about handbags!) so please bear with me, I'm hoping someone can help. I am the sort of person who doesn't wear make up, never has. Not judging anyone who does, but I never went through the phase when I was in my teens of figuring out how to do it properly, made a half arsed attempt at 18, realised I looked ridiculous and didn't ever bother, even on my wedding day. Mostly I don't mind this looking like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards is a look, right? and since I've got two DC and no time or money or inclination it's not changing now. I have my eyebrows threaded regularly, use unfragranced soap and night cream. That's me done and usually I'm ok with that.

But I saw a friend of a friend recently who looked incredible. I couldn't figure out what was different about her, as she wasn't wearing make up that I could tell. Eventually she took pity on me and told me she'd had natural looking eyelash extensions to cover a period of a couple of family weddings, holiday etc.

It got me to thinking that something similar might help me as I run into a few weeks of fancy events I've got coming up. But I'm so wary that I'm going to end up looking TOWIEish or some such (made worse because normally I don't wear anything so it's going to look even more unusual that I'm doing it IYSWIM).

So I'm looking for advice / feedback please. Initially I loved how she looked so much (her eyes looked bigger and she just looked more well put together than normal) that I was just going to go and get extensions but then I'm worried (a) they'll look too much and (b) what happens when they run their course? Do they need to be taken off or will they just fall off a bit at a time? A salon local to me does LVL lashes and the before and after photos of that look good (but then they would, wouldn't they?!) so that's an option too but I'm stumped and worried I'm going to make a mistake and end up looking like a caricature of myself. Should I ask for an eyelash tint at the same time? Or will that be OTT for a woman who doesn't normally wear mascara?

Any advice gratefully received, either on the benefits or pitfalls of eyelash maintenance or any advice on generally how I can make myself look a bit less scruffy in as low-key a way as possible!

I almost never wear makeup. I don't have the time anymore. I do get my lashes done every 2 weeks though! I used to get the classics and now get Russian volume. After 7 years of having them permanently I wouldn't be without them now.
