Acid toners

My skin is generally much happier since I stopped using any kind of scrub or physical exfoliator – it’s less irritated and the occasional spots I used to get have all gone. However, I have some slightly rough textured patches, particularly to either side of my nose, and some visible sebaceous filaments on my nose itself.

Would an acid toner help? And, if so, can anyone recommend a mild and gentle one to try first? Or is there something else I should be using?

In case it matters - at the moment I use Lush ultrabland as a cleanser morning and evening. In the morning I use a Lush moisturiser as a base for makeup, plus sunscreen if I’m going outside in daylight. In the evening I use rosehip oil after cleansing.

Just recommended on another thread, try Paula's Choice BHA Exfoliant. I have very sensitive skin and this does not irritate at all. But clears and smoothes.

Nip and Fab glycolic fix cleansing pads?

Feawen · 22/03/2018 10:37

Thanks both - I'll take a look.

The Pixi glow tonic is quite good.

Nip and Fab glycolic here, although I rate the Olay anti wrinkle toner which is also an acid toner.

The pads are great because they are so quick. I have the normal and the sensitive. Really rate them, my skin feels so different when I use them.

Liquid Gold is the best I've tried

I like the Pixi Glow for every day and the Liquid Gold too - it really makes you look like you've had an amazing night's sleep. I have just bought a REN one which India Knight was raving about a couple of weeks ago too.

you should be using an spf/uva regardless of weather you are planning on being outside. particularly with an acid.

I use an M&S one that’s a dupe for Pixi glow tonic. It’s in a minty green bottle and is amazing!
