Hair dilemma

Hi there,

Hoping someone can help and give me some advice.

I went to a new salon yesterday to get my hair done. I am blonde and have some regrowth, I explained I wanted the colour brightened up and a good couple inches off as I felt my ends needed tidying. The colourist explained they do something called 'colour art' that they are a bleach free salon but the results I wanted were still achievable. We went on to talk about tones etc and I said I didn't like ashy tones in my hair as I am very pale but have a yellow undertone to my skin and feel they wash me out..

What I left with was grey/green hair with extremely dark roots.. I called and explained the issue and they booked me in for corrections this morning.. I have left the same way. I also had a random long piece or 2 I had to get cut aswell.

Question to you guys. What would you do now?? I really don't want to go back but will have no option but do go elsewhere and it cost £115.

It doesn't look to bad when it's up but I know what you mean about the colour!

I think the only thing you can do is go back to another hairdresser :( sorry OP!

It's not awful though, but I wouldn't be happy if I asked for lighter hair and got grey :( x

Namethecat · 21/03/2018 12:44

Yes from the pic it does look grey.

CrispyChickenSkin · 21/03/2018 13:25

Thanks both!!

I have spoken to another hairdresser who refused to do anything to my hair for 2 weeks to give it some time to settle. 😩😩

I have called the salon again to see if they can advise anything else. Just noticed the back of my shirt is also covered in hair dye too from this morning... give me strength

I'd be asking for my money bsck. They couldn't do what you asked, but took your money and wasted your time anyway!
Is there a regulatory body you can complain to if they refuse?

SlideAway82 · 21/03/2018 20:26

Did they put a toner on it? Mine can look quite grey after (although I quite like it) but it brightens with every wash.

zippyswife · 21/03/2018 21:00

I wasn’t happy with a cut (they basically gave me a mullet instead of a bobConfused). I hate hate hate kicking up a stink but I called and explained. I told them I was too embarrassed to return to the shop to explain so I sent photos. They ended up giving me a free Brazilian blow dry and free cut and then I returned again until it was completely sorted out. For free. So call them. Explain you’ve ended up with grey instead of blonde hair. And what are they going to do about it as you’re very upset. I think they’ll bend over backwards to rectify.

It still does look pretty by the way. But just not what you wanted. Good luck.

CrispyChickenSkin · 22/03/2018 16:02

Thanks so much for the replies!

I ended up calling back again(ah, so awkward!) and spoke to the owner. He was very apologetic and arranged a refund. He has offered to do my hair himself next time for free.

Oh I hate it. There is no toner only colour but he has advised it will fade over time so I'm just going to have to learn to live with it x

I can hear how disappointed you are, but honestly you have beautiful hair, and it still looks gorgeous in spite of the slight mishap with the colour.

I'm not sure what they have used so treat my advice with a big handful of salt. But I am blonde and I use that bright purple shampoo to keep the colour from going brassy. I wonder if it might brighten yours up??

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 22/03/2018 16:52

If you've been advised it'll fade then it's a semi permanent colour. I'd try a decent clarifying shampoo or Head and Shoulders to speed the washing out. It should fade quite quickly.

It's good that you've got a refund. My advice? Don't go back. I've never heard of a bleach free salon Confused but you cannot lighten blonde hair or lift dark roots without bleach. I don't think that salon is for you if you want to continue being blonde.

CrispyChickenSkin · 23/03/2018 11:05

@pigmcpigface thanks a lot. I know a lot of people would be happy with this but you know I just really don't like ash with my skin tone. Your so sweet tho that's cheered me up!!

@ILostItInTheEarlyNineties that is what my friend said too she is going to pick me up a clarifying shampoo from salon services so hopefully I can at least tone it down a bit 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I completely understand, it's rotten when a hair stylist doesn't meet your expectations.

I had a red dye job a while ago that went badly wrong - very much worse than this, I looked like I had an orange net on my head. As a PP has advisd, head and shoulders really stripped the colour out within a few washes. Good luck!
