Just that really - should I put soolantra all over my face or just on the affected area?

Thank you in advance! Smile

I use it all over.

BrassicaBabe · 20/03/2018 21:48

I've lurked on the roseca thread. Bought some soolantra online today. Fingers crossed!!!

polarlight · 21/03/2018 16:37

I use it all over too, it's the only thing that worked for me (and still works years later). Good luck, hope it works for you too Smile

madmomma · 21/03/2018 22:48

Where can you get it online where it's safe though? Isn't it a medicine?

mommybear1 · 23/03/2018 16:40

I just use it in affected areas.

EssexMummy123456 · 23/03/2018 19:19

does it reduce redness or just get rid of the spots?

Sarahlouiseis33 · 23/03/2018 19:22

It has reduced my redness and got rid of my spots!

I buy it on Pharmacy2u and it seems legit.

I put it all over my face, not just the red bits, as it's meant to kill the mites and presumably they (urghghg) go everywhere!

greenllicic · 23/03/2018 21:21

Iv been on it 9 weeks and it got worse before it got better. Put it all over face but only a pea sized amount

Gammeldragz · 23/03/2018 21:51

Just Googled this product as it hadn't been mentioned on the rosacea threads I was researching through the other day. The active ingredient is an antiparisite treatment. Same as this mite stuff on amazon www.amazon.co.uk/PHARMAQ-Ivermectin-Drops-5ml-Treatment/dp/B00JVPZV9K?tag=mumsnetforum-21
Not sure if that's a bad thing or not...

Gammeldragz · 23/03/2018 21:52

Hang on, just read the last few posts. Is that the point?!

theredjellybean · 23/03/2018 21:54

I must be missing something but roseacea is not caused by mites.
It's due to a dilation of blood vessels and plasma leaks out which causes the pustules. Some microbial factors too.
But mites???? In our facial skin.... Ummmm... Please come and tell me about this as my dermatologist never mentioned it and I am a GP and have never heard of this

EssexMummy123456 · 23/03/2018 22:31

Soolantra has been proven to be more effective than Metrogel/cream for Roseacea - www.nice.org.uk/advice/esnm68/chapter/Key-points-from-the-evidence

the active ingredient is ivermectin a medication used against many parasites en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivermectin

I have been using it for 3 weeks and whilst it has cured the spots I'm still left with some redness, which is especially bad if I'm hot / stressed - i'm thinking about laser treatment for that.

Theredjellybean, I’ve read that the demodex mite may be either a cause for the inflammation in rosacea or it is present in higher numbers in inflammatory conditions. But some people really have excellent results with it. I’ve also read that some dermatologists offer to take scrapings to have them tested for the mite by. I don’t know if there are any recent studies.
