I've always used the powder or spray, but have just bought the new josh wood root smudger and it's amazing

Charles Worthington root spray is good.

WatchoutDSisdriving · 20/03/2018 12:38

The L'oreal one is also really good. Covers the roots perfectly but does feel a bit sticky, I don't usually use any product in my hair though so may be extra sensitive to that.

thanks for the replies :)

@watchoutdsisdriving I agree with you re the L’Oréal one. It looks good, but does leave stickiness. Makes my hair feel a bit matted to my scalp.

I might try one of the others recommended here. I have a 6-week old baby so might not make it to the salon for a proper fix any time soon!

I've tried a few and find the Loreal by far the best. Weirdly, unlike other pps doesn't make my hair sticky. I hold it quite far away and just do a tiny bit at a time then rub it in a bit with my fingers so don't know if that helps or I'm just lucky!

Whatisthislifeiffullofcare · 21/03/2018 19:20

I love the L'Oréal. I give it a quick blow with the hairdryer after which (in my head at least) sets it. It's enabled me to go back to colouring every 5 or 6 weeks again instead of every 2 to hide my badger stripe. Does have to be redone every time you wash your hair though but so worth it in terms of colouring less. It takes seconds to put on. Best thing ever.

I did try Josh Wood previously but it was not so easy to apply.

Jammydodger81 · 21/03/2018 21:19

I like the L’Oreal too, matches my hair really well. Just make sure you shield your face as the first time I used it I didn’t and got brown speckles on it, ruined my makeup getting it off!

princessbear80 · 21/03/2018 21:40

I use L’Oréal too. Does make my head slightly itchy. As pp said, be careful not to get it on your face. I wrap one hand in tissue and hold it over my forehead while I spray with the other hand.

LauraRashley · 21/03/2018 22:12

I like the L’Oréal Magic Touch. I’m a bit heavy handed but relative who is a car paint sprayer by trade does a excellent job. He shakes can well, applies in short bursts, about 4/5 inches from hair and keeps can moving the whole time.... you can’t see the join!

NinjagoNinja · 22/03/2018 00:53

I use Colour Wow. It's like a brown eyeshadow, it's much easier to do round your face than the spray which is hard to be precise with.

The L'Oreal spray is good but only for parting from an inch or so back from your face or it'll go on your skin. And it does make your hair feel like it needs washing, looks good though, will buy you an extra day or two.

NinjagoNinja · 22/03/2018 00:55

With Colour Wow, buy a lighter shade than you think you need. It goes on quite dark. It's great for temples and small areas.

LauraRashley · 22/03/2018 06:35

I used to use Colour Wow but found it stopped working after I had used about half. Something to do with the powder oxidising and becoming ineffective apparently.

If this problem has been solved then I’d happily try it again.

Fosterdog123 · 22/03/2018 09:33

Laura - have you tried scraping the powder? Same thing happens with powder blushers and I just turn my brush the other way, use the end of the handle to scrape the powder (so it loosens a bit of the top layer) and then use it as normal again.
