Hi
Is embroidered jeans a total no no... or is it ok to go for... i think it's ok for 50+... (please don't judge me for sharing this... nooo offence intended to 50+ gorgeous ladies.). but is this jeans ok for a size 14 chunky thighs.. or embroidered jeans is total out of fashion. Please advise, thanks in advance.

I bought the embroided jeans last year from Zara with Mickey Mouse on. Saw loads of other people wearing them.

I don't personally like the ones you posted in the photo, but see no reason why you wouldn't buy them if you like them. Go for it, OP! Smile

Floisme · 17/03/2018 16:05

I believe they're back in fashion. But I also think the positioning of the embroidery on that link is pitiless, unless you have the thighs of a catwalk model.

If it was me, I'd look for embroidery around the hem - draw the eye away.

ColinsVeryJolly · 17/03/2018 16:08

Embroidered jeans is a fashion I don't get, they either make you look like your grandma trying to be 'jazzy' or like a 6 year old.

They sometimes look ok on edgy student types but on everyone else, just no.

madmother1 · 17/03/2018 16:09

I'm 50+ and wouldn't wear embroidered jeans.

CallarMorvern · 17/03/2018 16:10

I wouldn't as I'd worry I wouldn't get the wear out of them, I still have some in the attic from last time. But they look perfectly nice, though I prefer the embroidery to be nearer the hem. I like the linked Tu ones.

I'm currently wearing those exact jeans! I think they look great and fit really nicely. They look good tucked into ankle boots as they're perfectly fitted around the ankles, but I think they'll also look good with sandals/ballet pumps in the spring.
I liked the blue embroidery as it's there but isn't too obvious iyswim.
Get them and enjoy!

Fairylea · 17/03/2018 16:16

They are quite “in” at the moment. Asos and topshop have lots but they need to be a certain type of fit. Have a look at those shops and see what’s new in and it should help. I wouldn’t wear them with sandals as per your link, ankle boots or ballet pumps or even pointed loafers would be okay.

Floisme · 17/03/2018 16:17

Yes the ones with embroidery near the ankle look far more flattering to me.

They're not to my taste but I'm not sure why being over 50 is an issue, unless you're of the opinion that we shouldn't wear anything the second time round and frankly, if I believed that, I wouldn't have left the house for 20 years.

HildaZelda · 17/03/2018 16:21

Nothing to do with age or size (for the record I'm 38 and a 6-8) but I wouldn't wear them myself because I think they're a bit 'Mumsy'. Gran-mumsy even, but if YOU like them, then that's all that matters. While I wouldn't wear them myself, I wouldn't judge anyone who did. I'm sure I wear stuff that others don't like.

madamedepoppadom · 17/03/2018 16:22

I like some embroidered jeans, but I don't really like the length and shape of those ones.

CompleteAisling · 17/03/2018 16:23

They're a big thing again, very popular with the 20 year olds.

But why care? Do you like them? Isn't that all that matters?

GammaDelta · 17/03/2018 16:49

Hi all,
Thabks for your response. My thighs do look big in them.

Floisme - It's not that over 50s is the problem i am 30 but yes as u said it's the grand mumsy thing i am trying to avoid. Hence asked for suggestion. Thanks all.

Hey not me op - I never use words like 'mumsy', let alone 'grandmumsy'. In fact some people think I work for the mumsy police.

But back to embroidered jeans - yes they're in fashion again so enjoy.

MrsDilber · 17/03/2018 17:01

I'm a big lass - 47 yo lass. I've realised with clothes, and home, that I just buy what I like and, genuinely, don't give a flying fig what anyone thinks about it.

It makes for an eclectic mix, but it's my mix.

DrowningEveryDay · 17/03/2018 22:25

Wear it if you like it. Not that it matters, but it's been back in fashion for a year or so, so noone will think you're dated. :) My mom bought this same pair for herself and me.
