Rolex battery change

Just after any suggestions for where I can get the batteries changed in my Rolex and a few others, I’m fed up of paying hundreds for service or battery change.

I’ve got three that need battery changes that I’m not wearing them at the moment which is a bit of a waste - any ideas eg would goldsmiths type shops do simple battery changes?

You may find an independent watch maker/repairer willing to do it (if it isn't waterproof), but I've never found a high street jeweller who would do it.

I've resigned myself to mine having to have an extended, expensive, pamper holiday in Switzerland every 5 years! The battery should last between services. Different situation for me though as I wear mine everyday, so I think it's worth the expense.

I find it really annoying it cost me £5 to get my Raymond Well battery changed in Bahrain. In the UK it's closer to £100.

My Rolex doesn't have a battery - most of them have automatic movement. I know a few prior to 2001 I think it was only the OysterQuartz had a battery. Servicing is a horrendous cost though so only did mine when it got to ten years old.
Are all of yours OysterQuartz op or is it the servicing you mean?

I thought Rolexes were kinetic?

Debenhams have their own designated watch area and they do both my Tissot and Husbands Raymond Weil and re waterproof the seal at about £20 a time. Guaranteed for 2 years as well.

I thought the whole point of a rolex was that you didnt need to get a battery changed due to automatic movement etc

None of mine are battery and I got my first one about 20 years ago

My oldest one was bought in 1985 and doesn't have a battery.

Interestingly according to my Rolex officianado husband there were some time ago around 10% of Rolex manufactured with a battery, in a brief dalliance with batteries. Now everything made is automatic.
With regards to the battery change, i would go to a rolex dealer Unless you have already had the battery changed and any seals broken previously.

I have Tag & my husband has a Breitling & a Tag
For both of the Tags as they are more than 5 years old we have taken them to Debenhams to have the battery changed and represurised
£40 each and took less than an hour and you get a two year guarantee

The Brietling is new and still under warranty so we would take it to where we bought it from and let them deal with it

I’ve got one Rolex which is datejusy I think, I’ve always had it serviced and it’s had a battery change so it’s def battery operated.

nearlyadoctor the others are Piaget and breitling but the servicing is just as pricy which is why I was looking for a cheape option. Debenhams sounds like a good option will look into that. The batteries don’t last between servicings, they were done within the last 4 years and all have stopped in the last year .

Any other suggestions welcome!
