Sunglasses - polarised or not

Just about to invest in new Ray-Ban sunglasses but wondered if it was worth getting polarised ones for the extra £45?

Definitely in my opinion. Especially if you'll be driving in them.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 15/03/2018 22:27

Definitely polarised.

RomaineCalm · 15/03/2018 22:39

Agreed. If you drive polarising lenses make a huge difference.

domesticslattern · 15/03/2018 22:41

Do it.

mintbiscuit · 15/03/2018 22:41

Oh god yes to polarised for driving. Only switched in the last few years and would never go back now.

xyzandabc · 15/03/2018 22:44

Generally great but if I turn my phone sideways to take a picture, I can't see the screen when wearing polarised glasses. The glasses and phone screen cancel each other out so it just looks black.

TonicAndTonic · 15/03/2018 22:47

Polarised are fab, I got my first pair last year. Particularly good for driving in bright sun, but great in general, apart from looking at some screens.

AlannaOfTrebond · 15/03/2018 22:50

Depends what you want from your glasses.

You will get better clarity whilst driving. Polarised are invaluable for estimating the depth of water when sailing. The world takes on a stunning technicolour.

They are more expensive and half the time you can't see the screen on your phone.

Happybell · 15/03/2018 23:04

Gosh hadn’t thought about screen use. Is this with all phones/tablets?

Yes to polarised! But where do you buy them? (good quality and not too dear)

Ididnthearanything · 16/03/2018 10:03

Absolutely worth it IMO. In fact I wont buy anything but polarised.

It really irritates me that high end brands pay damn all attention to lens quality. I'm talking designer stuff (not ray-ban) and not this thread I know, but it really gets on my goat.

tameka · 16/03/2018 13:19

Mine are prescription & polarised, I have photosensitive epilepsy so can't live without them on sunny days!!

I need a new pair now as my prescription has changed. I'm not worried about getting a designer frame, as long as they are polarised.

I really recommend them.

HuskyMcClusky · 16/03/2018 13:22

Absolutely worth it.

I’ve only bought polarised for years, and I’ll never go back.

rightknockered · 16/03/2018 13:37

Polarised always, I need them for driving. I have polarised aviators, tried others but never as good.

sportyfool · 16/03/2018 14:00

Yes definitely !!

FrogInASock · 16/03/2018 14:19

Polarised for sure.

Except when taking photos on your iPhone in landscape. Took me months to realise this.

Chicinwellies · 16/03/2018 15:03

Definitely. I live by the sea and couldn’t do without them
