Have waterproof mascaras improved?

Going on holiday soon and I usually get an LVL treatment but I'm sick of how they grow out so strangely so thinking of going back to waterproof mascara & eyeliner instead.

I have a Rimmel eyeliner to try, does anyone have any recommendations for a waterproof mascara?

Or any other waterproof recommendations?

I love my tubing mascaras. Boots No7 for daytime, Estée Lauder for a fuller effect. They only come off with hot water.

Thank you! Didn't realise tubing mascaras were waterproof - so they'd be fine in a pool as long as it wasn't too hot?

Yes I would think so - although I haven't been swimming since using it, I've been in the shower, cried, washed my hair and it hasn't budged. You have to use warm water on a flannel or cotton wool to remove it, and it doesn't just wipe off even then - you have to hold the flannel on your lashes for a minute or so to melt the tubes. It's great stuff! What I like best about it is I never get grey smudges under my eyes anymore; it comes off really cleanly (more so the No7 one, the EL has some fibres in it that take a bit more wiping).

I've found the No7 one almost impossible to remove with a flannel and warm water, it goes cold before it melts it, but comes off very easily in the shower, so temperature does seem to be a factor. Comes off as little black bits, no smudging. However I hate the look of it, it gives unnatural spidery-looking lashes.

Hmm think it might annoy me if I can't get it off with a normal remover at the end of the day!

Yes, it annoys me too and I don't generally suffer with smudging anyway, I will be going back to normal mascara when this runs out.

I really like the Clinique one. It’s not that difficult to ge5 off, just warm water.

I've got the eyeko sport waterproof mascara- £10 in M&S last year.

It stayed on even when I swam with my head in the sea.

tameka · 16/03/2018 13:27

Came off with baby wipes

Clinque High Impact water proof is great. My fave mascara and really doesn't budge

octopusrus · 17/03/2018 07:59

Thanks for the recommendations!

Most are ok but some are too drying. I like the black maybelline one (cannot remember it's name) and have the Loreal baby something one and the architect waterproof too.

I love the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes in waterproof. It stays put through anything; tears, swimming etc and looks great. I have stubby pale lashes and it brings them out a treat. I remove with Garnier Skin Active Express 2 in 1 eye makeup remover (purple one that you shake to mix) and it melts off easy as anything with NO rubbing. I have sensitive skin too and both of these are completely brilliant.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 23/03/2018 11:43

I have the blue Maybelline one and it stays put very well.

cloudtree · 23/03/2018 11:46

I always swim in mine and it doesn't budge - Max factor 2000 calories waterproof
