Has Boden recently improved or have my style choices just got frumpier?! I seem to be buying a lot there recently.

I like the style of their clothes. It's just the quality that's crap.

PaperdollCartoon · 12/03/2018 10:38

I buy a lot of Boden, particularly dresses. I’m 30 and definitely not frumpy (though not super high fashion by any stretch!)

The tshirt quality isn’t great though. Comparing my Boden breton with my Baukjen breton, it’s no contest. The Baukjen is absolutely worth the extra money. But I have several of the Boden super soft scoop 3/4 sleeves I love and wear all the time.

PaperdollCartoon · 12/03/2018 10:39

Should add I love the dresses because I feel like they cut for my body (12, short, fairly curvy but not excessively so) better than other places. The dress quality is generally good.

LesDennishair · 12/03/2018 10:43

Very poor quality nowadays I'm afraid. I'm about to even give up buying basics and classics (I avoid their typical garish prints and designs) as you can buy better elsewhere.

CoffeeOrSleep · 12/03/2018 10:49

I think they have improved over the last year or so. I do think they've listened.

VulvaNotVagina · 12/03/2018 13:30

I liked their latest stuff. I am never buying anything there again though, the quality is crap and it's far too expensive!

LesDennishair · 12/03/2018 15:02

That's right. The quality has gone down but the prices are still going up. The last order I placed there was before Christmas. I think that will be it from me.

Ocies · 12/03/2018 15:47

I have quite a few Boden dresses that I wear for work and I think they wash and wear well. I've also just ordered some sandals for summer which, with 20% discount were good value if they last as long as the last pair I had.

BubblesBuddy · 12/03/2018 16:53

He’s worth about £500 million, so losing a few customers won’t matter one suspects! I have sent most of it back in recent times and I have now mostly stopped ordering. I have a few items of knitwear that were half price. Otherwise, overpriced, highly recognisable, tat.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 12/03/2018 16:58

I have several dresses that are all good quality. I think it depends on your style though as I have heard the t-shirt aren't great. I hardly wear t-shirts though so wouldn't know.

LesDennishair · 12/03/2018 17:04

I have a few Boden dresses, and I include those also. The best are those still going strong from 10+ years ago

Yvest · 12/03/2018 17:10

I was looking at the catalogue the other day and nearly passed out at the prices

BikeRunSki · 12/03/2018 17:11

I buy stuff for the dc. Their mini stuff is ok quality, and the designs suits my DS who is 9, very tall, but still quite “young for his age”. Clothes that fit him (age 12) are usually a bit too adult for his taste. And the only shows he’ll wear out of school are Boden. He’s had 3 pairs now.

BikeRunSki · 12/03/2018 17:11

I never pay full price though!

cornflower123 · 12/03/2018 17:31

Nope, have given up on them now - last years summer dresses were terrible quality for the price. Used to buy loads from them. Still, that's interesting if they really have listened and quality is improved. Might try again sometime, or maybe not, because it's still too recognisible IMHO....

winterinmadeira · 12/03/2018 17:58

I thought the latest catalogue had some lovely stuff in it. I ordered it with a 20 per cent discount - I sent the whole lot back this morning! Dreadful quality and\or sizing.

Tralalee · 12/03/2018 18:01

Where do you all buy instead? I like the fact they have a long size for the dresses (I hate my knees and most dresses are too short)

BubblesBuddy · 12/03/2018 18:04

Arket, Cos, &other stories, Jaeger for coats and linen, M and S for jeans and cashmere.

whataboutbob · 12/03/2018 19:37

Another one who thinks the quality has gone down ( and it was always variable anyway).Bought a top there for work, worn and washed a few times, the fabric is now going transparent. However got a shorts in the sale and the fabric seems good quality, but haven’t washed them yet.

Mulberrysilk · 12/03/2018 19:41

I can't think of very many brands where the quality hasn't gone down in the last 5 years.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/03/2018 19:43

I bought a couple of plain jersey dresses last summer - first things I'd bought from there for years. I've been really pleased with them and the quality seems good so far.

Tortycat · 12/03/2018 19:43

Would buy loads from there if i could afford it! Think the styles are nice as long as you avoid the garish prints.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/03/2018 19:44

Would only buy in the sales though.

Spring is always the nicest season in Boden. Goes downhill after that.
