Can pregnancy hormones be causing really bad acne?

As a teen I didn't really suffer with acne. I had huge blackheads that I used to rip out with pore strips religiously, but obviously they come back bigger and worse than ever.
I have one dd and I'm expecting ds soon so I'm tired and don't always look after my skin as much as I used to.
But I've noticed within days my skin has been horrific. Really rough. Blackheads all over the place and acne all on my cheeks etc. They used to only be on my tzone but they're everywhere :(
Could this be 37 week pregnancy hormones coming into play? I'm trying to look after my skin daily now but I just can't seem to clear it :(

If you aren't normally someone who suffers from acne, and haven't changed your diet at all then I'd say yes it's pregnancy hormones wrecking havoc on your system! When I was pregnant suddenly my hair turned super oily and disgusting which I put down to hormones. It cleared up a few weeks after giving birth, so hopefully the end is in sight!

So frustrating, especially when all you hear about is pregnant women looking 'glowing' etc Envy

Yes it can do this, sorry Sad

The glowing thing really bugs me. It's far from it. I've never glowed with any pregnancy

Who decided that pregnant women are supposed to "glow"?

I think it's one of these Victorian ideas about femininity / motherhood that has got into the national psyche. Pregnancy is not a walk in the park for a lot of women for various reasons, yet not only are we supposed to just get on with it, we have to "glow" while doing so.
