Please Help with elusive Nightwear

I'm looking for a cotton nightshirt with

  • short sleeves
  • buttons only half way down or a V-neck.
  • Plain or stylish simple pattern (stars would be OK; paisley print/cartoons or 'funny' slogans definitley not)
  • in a large or x-large or very lose cut

No budget - if it's nice I don't care. I would like something stylish.

This is ideal but they only do it in a medium and I hate feeling constricted by nightwear so like it to be baggy:

This is fairly simple you'd think but apparently it's like looking for a holy grail.

It's not short sleeved but is this the sort of thing ?

Would love to, but it took me 3 years to find a white or cream plain cotton or linen short sleeved knee length nightie.
Eventually found a dress (not nightdress) in Sainsbos that ticked the boxes! Bought 4 and hope that's it for the next 10 years.

Maremaremare · 10/03/2018 21:36

This, from the White Company ?

If you search Amazon under men's clothing for "mr nightgown" there are a couple - not feminine but roomy

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/03/2018 21:41

I have this and it is so comfortable.

Lucked · 10/03/2018 21:41

landsend has v neck nightshirts in cotton. Different lengths available.

CremeFresh · 10/03/2018 21:41

at house of frasers available in a 16

Lucked · 10/03/2018 21:52

also in a 16

AaarmadillosWhy · 10/03/2018 23:53

Ah! Thanks for all the ideas.

a number of them (incuding the mens one) have long sleeves and I really want short sleeves (again hate that feeling of constriction round your arms!)

maremaremare - the White Company one is the kind of thing I'm after but I don't want textured fabric - just smooth plain cotton.

Lucked - I'd already seen those - the shape of the Cyberjammies one at House of Fraser is exactly right but again I don't like or want a pattern unless it is very simple like a star or plain stripe. Plus I don't want buttons all the way down the front - I'm looking for partial buttons.

absolutehush - LOL - yes that is the kind of thing minus head gear but I really want a stylish looking female one not an obviously male pattern.

borntobequiet I totally hear you. I did the same thing with a perfect Bonsoir direct night shirt many years ago. I also bought a number but the last one is on its last legs!

TheWoolyBacksWife your link was broken for me. What was the product you linked to please?

It was Debenhams - Lounge and Sleep star print nightdress. It's viscose rather than cotton but it is so comfortable.

LardLizard · 11/03/2018 00:10

Wee willie winkle is running through my mind now

absolutehush · 11/03/2018 00:30

Hmmmm...

This sea salt one is slightly more feminine and (yeeeessss) has pockets: https://www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/clothing/nightwear/bay-view-nighty-nightshirtcornishhwhirlchalk.htm

These are nice but not got the right sleeves: www.pjpan.co.uk/womens-pink-star-print-nightshirt

This cyber Jamie's might work: www.next.co.uk/gl02234s10

Oddbutnotodd · 11/03/2018 06:35

Davis Napier soft cosy nightshirt. If you scroll through the nightwear past the frillier stuff.

Oddbutnotodd · 11/03/2018 06:37

Sorry it’s David Nieper

AaarmadillosWhy · 11/03/2018 10:43

Thanks Wooly - I found it. I like the print but I do want cotton not viscose.

AbsoluteHush - I really liked the Pjpans star print one but it has long sleeves and also they say comes up small - and I want a baggy roomy loose one. Wondering now whether I should just accept defeat and take a bunch to have sleeves shortened.

Oddbutnot - thanks - I'd already looked at David Nieper - I find them a bit too old fashioned/older persons style tbh.

Hanro mercerised Cotton is the stuff of dreams! It lasts for years, and I mean years. People at work mock me but I have nighties that are 20 years old. It is an investment, and will far outlast 3 M&S nighties at the same price.

SukiTheDog · 11/03/2018 11:33

Watching....my nighties have seen better days.
